All you guys that have "man cave" type garages must have another stoage area for all you yard toys and the wifes seasonal crap.
I'm going to have a storage shed built in my back yard for all the excess stuff currently in my garage. I'm looking at a 10'x 12' shed with a gable roof.
What size stoage sheds do you guys have in the back yard ?
Either you don't have any excess stuff or you are going to be very disappointed. A 10x12 will fill up so quick your head will spin. Unless that is all you have room for, my minimum would be 12 x16 hopefully with a loft area. My garage is 28x40 and I need to build on to the back side for extra storage. I'm planning on a 20 x 24 for the motorcycle, 4-wheeler, trail mower, push mower, tractor, air compressor, table saw, drill press, ect.

Mine is a 10X10 - keep the mowers, rakes, shovels, wheelbarrel, step ladder, power washer, and miscellaneous other stuff out there. Also have some storage above the garage for various seasonal things.

I'm thinking a 10'x12' with some built-in shelving may just work !
You need to build a second garage. Mine is a 28X30. Sheds are nice, but you have to drag everything out to get what was in the back right corner or left corner. Everything looks like crap. You need organization and room to walk around to check on your stuff. As George Carlin's monologue went, "your stuff is very important" Etc Etc Etc.
My garage is 30' x 20 ' with some shelves installed in it as well as a work bench. I have a 10' x 12' shed with a riding and push mower, weed eater, blower, a pull cart , wheel barrow, hand tools and pool stuff and it is plenty of room to spare.

This is a 12x12 I built a couple of years ago mostly for lawn equipment, and tools, it looks pretty good in the first photo, it's damn near empty , but it's getting packed, and just the other day I did a major clean-out in it.

I have 3, the smallest is 10x20 for my lawn crap. Another for equipment and a car. The largest is a barn that's 60x80 and 2 story, with tractors, boats, truck, car, equip and other crap on the second floor.
They're not big enough
Seriously though, get the shed with some upper storage for that stuff that's seldom used. Gambrel roof style. At my last house, I built one of those 26x36 with a 16' wide room upstairs. The idea was storage, but I put in steps and turned it into a game room and lost all storage value once it was heated and a/c'ed. I still saved the corners of the truss area, but, it wasn't the same.
No matter what you get, you'll wish it was larger, if for no other reason than organization. Don't look at what you have to put in it, look at what you've always wanted but don't have. Soon, you will have!
