Drove our vette that we bought a month ago from Pa to the Outer Banks Nc its an automatic convertible 2002 with 14500 miles I got 28 miles per gallon that really frake me out.
Be sure to take a look at getting the ExoticVette cargo partition. It really helps to dampen the booming resonance into cockpit from the trunk. We bought one, carpeted on both sides and the difference was amazing. We also changed out the run-flats to non run-flats.
Our first long two hour drive, before the partition and the tires was really nasty. We couldn't hear each other talking with the top up nor hear the radio. With the partition/tires, the car is a joy to drive now, top up or down.
Love this car for road trips! My stingers can get a little annoying on really long trips in my coupe but I have learned to deal with it. They sound too good. Just did a quick road trip where I got just about 30mpg. Plenty of spirited driving in there to boot!

I remember when I took my wife on our first road trip in our then new 2004 C5 convertible. It was bone stock and although she liked the car, she didn't like the harshness of the run-flats and the road noise (even with the top up). As a result, she tended to want to drive our SUV on future road trips.
Since then, the mod bug bit me and I swapped out the run-flats for non-run flats, installed a new sound system with two layers of heat and sound insulation, I added the vert trunk partition, added the Corsa Indy Exhaust/X-pipe, Konis FSD shocks, Z06 sway bars and a thermal tunnel plate. I also added a DD NAV system and a Vette Essentials leather interior for better creature comforts.
After all that work had been performed, I talked my wife into another road trip, this time with my local club. Since the Corvette is pretty much my car and my hobby, this was the first time she agreed to ride in it since the original road trip. We had gotten about one mile from our house and she sat in the passenger seat quiet with a strange look on her face. I asked her if anything was wrong and she asked me "What did you do to this car?!" I explained the mods and she couldn't believe the difference. She now loves to take Corvette road trips!
