It's a little box with cheap plastic gears in it. What is does is open the doors in the HVAC system to let in either the heat or the cold.. In my case it didn't let the heat in so I had no heat on my side and my wife was warm on her side... I replaced mine this spring.. took me about 3-4 hrs with breaks and following the replacement guide listed in the tech sticky.

My car has set that code ever since I bought it 1 1/2 years ago. The heat and ac work fine right now. When it goes out I plan to replace both of them.

PoVette - I saw your post from 11-4-2012 concerning code B0441, Left Actuator Out of Range. I couldn't find the tech sticky that you referenced using to replace yours. Any helpful suggestions on how to replace that actuator will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
