I know, there are plenty of aftermarket wheels. But as someone said on this forum, if you are going to invest a bunch of cash, you want something unique. To that end, I have a design in mind and wonder if anyone knows of a vendor? My design is for a wheel similar to what was on Steve McQueen's Mustang in Bullit. I know blasphemy. Those 5 spoke wheels each spoke being thich on one end and thin on the other; bolted on, but with an authentic looking knockoff spinner. Any thoughts? I think my '04 would look great!
I clearly stated that it's blasphemy. However, I liked those wheels. I like Crager mags as well - maybe you've figured out that I am a "child of the 60's" with my first car a '56 Chevy in 1963. And I'm getting tired of my chromed thin spokes not to mention my "new" '04 stock grey spoke wheels. And although I only have 8200 miles on the original GY's, it's time to change those as well. Thinking of 18/18.
I'm right there with you. I have a hard time getting a lot of the wheel designs I've seen. I'm actually thinking about getting a set of the new Cragar retro wheels. I think they would look damn nice on a C5.

You may just have to start calling around and see if any vendor is interested in your design. A one off will probably cost you a bunch as they will have to design it to meet standards and then just make one. Now if it was a design the a bunch of others would buy, then you might be in business. Either way, good luck.
I was at my local Discount Tire store and was flipping through a catalog and I saw a rim that looked like the old Cragar 5 spoke in stock C5 sizes. I don't think it had knock offs though. May want to start there or search more online.
So far, I have found an American Racing Wheel -Classic Torq Thrust II. No spinner/knockoff look, but just like I described above. If you have a chance to google it, tell me your opinion. BTW it's around 430 per wheel and 18's and 20's are only sizes available. I would do 18's all around.

430 per wheel, You must be looking at the wrong place.

I was looking on the carid.com site. Searched and found add'l sites and for less $$ just as you said Mr Bill, but also less info like whether the wheels fit the C5, offset, etc. The wheels in your picture are close to what I want; the center spokes need to be flat gunmetal grey with that spinner. They also look like they are off the '68 Mustang.

Summit Racing sells the Classic Torq Thrust II wheels in all sizes and off sets for about 239 a wheel, I am getting the chrome Torq Thrust II wheels for my 72 Camaro in 17X8 for the front and 17X9.5 for the rear. These wheels looks good on a Classic, But not so sure on a C5..

I saw that difference. I've bought some things from CARID.com and they did not seem to be so overpriced. There must be some difference>especially for $200 more! BTW if the offset on the C5 stock wheels are +56 and +65, what does it mean when the catalogue says offset -1, +1, 0, etc. Is that from the stock offset? So a 0 offset would give me the same offset as stocK?

No, he is not. The wheel he is referring to is the American Racing VNCL205 model. It is a 2-piece wheel that is built to order. It is the only Torq-Thrust wheel from American available in 18" sizes. The wheel you posted is a 1-piece wheel, much less expensive, and only available in smaller diameters.

If you do a search on Summit they do offer 2 piece wheels in 17 and 18 inch and the cost for the 2 piece is like 329 or so.
I surrender! I thought the Torq-Thrust II would be cool, but to lay down so much $$ and have folks puke on them is not what I'm looking for which is still something unique, but reasonable in cost {I'm OK with cast wheels as well). As I mentioned earlier, I'm tired of thin spokes and the Z06 wheels and a C6 wheel made for C5 is just another variant of the thin spokes. So what's left? BTW I really prefer to buy USA made - are there any wheels out there made in the USA?
Mr Bill: Back spacing? I thought that I only had to be concerned over offset and bolt pattern?
Also from the comments, it looks like I will have to buy local and have the place actually put a wheel on to see if it fits my C5. Or buy from a Corvette Vendor online.
