Anyone know how to modify a set of stock C5 headlights so they open only halfway like the sun guns? I don't have sun guns and I'm looking at getting a custom set made but was just wondering how difficult it would be to modify the stock unit for only half open.
its not a Nissan..there is not enough adjustment to do what you want to make happen..you will have to do some pretty extensive mods to the gears and adjustment areas for it to even work .
Not worried about that, I'll be making custom projectors, just wondering if the the adjusting part is a pain to keep it adjusted.
If you're going to jeep them adjusted, you'd need to build a hinge-add-on to use the factory stopper to lock the headlights in at the desired height. From there you can use either the factory adjusters or tinker with the spacing on the mounting points of your projector.
Is the Sun Gun kit the one sold by Corvette Central? If not, they sell a kit too for half-opening lights.
Do you have a link?
I found them at corvette central, they look kinda like sun guns but a bit different and they already have the shrouds available, but price is $1495 O.o!!!

Picture #1 shows the stock assembly with white nylon bumpers. Picture #2 shows modified stops. You could also make spacers that are welded on the existing stops with the nylon bumpers removed. A small block of steel with a tapped hole for an adjusting bolt would be easy to make and weld on. When the headlight motor controller reads a current spike from either motor it turns off the power to both motors; the current will spike when a stop prevents either motor from turning. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...-ups-done.html

That's the kit I was referring to,I also thought the price was just atad too high. I'd buy lights from "George, Radioflyer" instead.
