I recently purchased a 98 coupe from a dealership. The car has a K&N kit, Borla cat backs and a permanently installed radar detector. In the glove box was the old owner's registration. I am very happy with my first Vette but would like to know about the radar detector and any issues that the car may have/has.
My question is ....do you think that it would be cool to contact the previous owner just to ask a couple of questions?
When I bought mine it too had the Viper system installed and it still works great , there is a device that is installed on the front and rear lic. Plate which I moved the front into the drivers front grill grill and the rear into one of the grills down low ,according to the prior owner it sends a jamming signal back , I'm not sure about that , but whatever it seems to work just fine I traced the wires down to what I would call the brain of the unit and its installed under my seat
Don't see why it would hurt to call the previous owner. Go for it and hopefully he'll fill you in with lots of info on the car.
I did, as I found the previous owners contact info. written in the owner's manual. I'd found out that the car had been purchased new with a GM extended warranty, and he was kind enough to sign over the remainder (2 years), and all I had to do was pay the $35 transfer fee...
After purchasing my corvette, I ran into the previous owner at a car event. He approached me and was very open to talk about the car. We have stayed in contact all these years. Do it
I always try and most of the time succeed in contacting the previous owner of vehicles I've purchased. It's always been a good experience and I've ended up getting some extras they had but either didn't want to give the dealer of forgot about them. Nearly always got the maint. records and receipts too.

Thanks for the tip. I'd been trying to find out what type of radar detector I had. I now have a starting point
