Default Ls1 or Ls2

Need your opinion: I am thinking about replacing my hurt LS1 "broke the ring lands" on #7 cylinder, with a Stock LS2 . Or should I rebuild my LS1 with forged rotating parts . I have a A&A V2 supercharger . Was boosting 10 psi .

Est cost to rebuild LS1 would be about 3k but it would be forged.. ls2 average price is around 2,500 plus relacating knock sensor harness and replacing reluctor prob around same cost .

Tough one. Guess it depends on your goals. If you want a max NA build then I guess the new block but the forged rebuild would be my lean. Keep us posted on what you decide.

If cost is about the same, Id say go with larger displacement. If you do rebuild the LS1 with forged internals, would you be planning on upping the boost? Both would make for a good gain in power.. depends on what you have planned.

For FI go with bore, and not stroke.

The stock LS2 is a fantastic bottom end - "BUT"

A forged LS1 is way better and especially since you are already FI - that is the only way to go!

make sure you are running Meth injection or really ramp up your fuel system to handle the Boost - #7 is the one that always goes first and it gets lean, thus breaking your rings!

It won't matter what you put in there if your fuel system is not up to par!

Thanks,Matt
