I seriously doubt if NYS is that much on the ball. The only thing the idiots in Albany are good for is passing ridiculous laws. I'll see what they send me.
Honestly, I'm a bit surprised at how many have actually mounted it on the windshield.
In NYS, if your ezpass is not located correctly on the vehicle, AND if it doesnt register when moving through a toll booth, a picture is taken of your vehicle, and you are assessed a toll charge from the furthest destination in NYS.
Then you get the pleasure of calling to resolve.
You can own any number of ezpass and get them registered to any number of vehicles you own, but you have to call to register each vehicle or you will be assessed a fee for unregisteref vehicle IF you have an infraction at a toll both.
You can just hold up the ezpass on the way through, but you may get a fine if there is an error.

Thanks, I guess I'll just bite the bullet an mount it on the glass... I assumed NYS was a pita about it. They are about every other freekin' thing.
Did you mount it on the windshield like you're supposed to or do you just set it on the dash when you need it?
I just put mine on the dash when I need it; else, it's in the glove compartment. The one trick is, you need to remember to take it out when driving through the toll. The one time I forgot, I got a nice little payment notice in the mail from the state...
I just throw mine in the lower left corner of the dash since I use the same IPASS in several vehicles. The funny one is the motorcycle, no matter where I mount it, it rarely reads it right, even if I stop grab the IPASS and WAVE IT AROUND.
They took those little plastic boxes away from us and went to a little decal up next to the mirror. There's nothing I can do but stick it on.
Yeah, and the decal won't read through my fully tinted windshield whereas the old plastic box would. There is something in the tint that inhibits the signal. Had to remount it onto a small piece of automotive glass with a couple of strong suction cups and then attach it to the outside of the windshield when I want to use it. PITA. It's either that or cut a rectangular hole in my tint to mount the unit from the inside.
A friend of mine mounted it to the underside of the hood on his C5Z and says he has no problems and it reads every time. I am a little hesitant to do this and mounted it to me windshield with one of those suction cup mounts behind the mirror. You can hardly see it.
My E-Z Pass transponder is the narrow rectangular style that is made to attach onto the front marker plate bracket.
I found that it fits perfectly into the windshield defroster outlet, on top of the dash, when I need to use it. It's always been detected from that location on the dash, even when passing through the scanners at highway speed.
I just got mine from NYS and the instructions said not to mount it in an auto without a metallic roof. How can that be if all of you say it works in your vettes??

The reason it say that is because when the unit is being read the transmitter emits really bad radiation and the metal roof protects you so this doesn't happen. But again it may already happened with your user name.
