It turned out it was now about 1/2 the size of the old one so I put it in the front window behind the right side of the rearview mirror. Don't even see it from the drivers seat.
I'm in IL and they said pass side min 1" down from the roof and 1" right of the mirror, from the inside.
Now it's changed to the drivers side of the mirror?
I went through IN with it in top of the dash and their detectors did not pick it up. Turns out I was charged a couple extra bucks because someone had to come over and raise the gate.
IN Toll Road has signs that say to mount to the drivers side of the mirror as well. Apparently their "guns" are on the drivers side at the Toll Booths and IL uses overhead detection.
A friend of mine mounted it to the underside of the hood on his C5Z and says he has no problems and it reads every time. I am a little hesitant to do this and mounted it to me windshield with one of those suction cup mounts behind the mirror. You can hardly see it.
Hey Blue, I've heard a similar thing, and I have a 'new' white box that is smaller than the original. I'm tempted to try it under the hood. Maybe I can stick the velcro to the back of the mirror? (which is the front of the car...depending on the orientation...uh.)
mounted to the wind shield behind the mirror. also i just got mine about 4 months ago so it's a newer unit, smaller. it isn't any higher than the
mirror.
In NY it's one device per license plate number. Not sure which way I'll go. I like the spray black idea but NYS is such a BIG PITA I'd probably get a ticket or warning or something. May try it anyhow.
hmmm....
Mine is just mounted below the rear view mirror. Never gave it much though and I AM ****!
I have the new smaller tag, it stays in the center console until I get on the road...them i put it between the grab handle and the dash on the passengers side.
Being the PITA that NYS is, they said that's illegal and can lead to fines. And they take pictures of everyone going through so they've gotcha if they want. I'll stick with it on the window (pun intended)
Swap between cars all the time and it sits on the dash
I have 3 transponders linked to the same acct.,
tired of forgetting it from one to another/mounted b-hind mirror high to the right so I can't see it from the pilot seat-
are people really so **** retentive OCD about a potentially 15 year old car (97) having a suction cup mark or the horror a sticker stuck to the windshield?
