Default Which wiper problem do I have?

Ok, before anyone freaks out and tells me to "do a search", I have searched for three days. So far it seems I should try - replacing the motor, pulling the board and putting it in the oven, readjusting the stop pin, or blowing the car up.

I cleaned the utters today - they were clogged but it made no difference to the wipers performance.

We got a couple inches of snow last week. I went to my car and turned the wipers on and they were unable to move the snow. I got out and cleared the snow off the windows. The wipers continued their cycle but parked almost straight up.

Now they run like normal, and even pause at the bottom, but they go an extra half cycle and park horizontally.

Darn it, I just went through this last year but my damn memory can't remember what I did to fix it. I do remember it took several attempts and some massive swearing to get it right.
I also remember I did find info on how to do it from the forum but can't find it now, sorry. I do remember it was not a bad motor causing the problem though

If your udders have been clogged, the inside of the wiper motor may have gotten moisture in it. Here are a couple of files that maybe will help you in your troubleshooting.

I think that you will probably need to replace your wiper motor. It's not really a big deal. Tuning the wiper cycle is the hardest part. The linkage is a total rube goldberg affair. There's a guy on DigitalCorvettes.com named Junkman. He has a very good tutorial on how to change the wiper motor. He makes it pretty easy. I did the job in about 3 hours with out hurring. I had to stop to check the pictures but it wasn't very complicated and could easily do it in less time now.

You can get a rebuilt motor at O'Rielly's for about $50.

Good luck - Kabluie

Ok, here is where I get confused. The two of you have both had this problem. One says to scrap the motor - the other says that it is not the motor.

I did have the exact same problem the OP has and I fixed without replacing the motor. At the same time though, I believe kabluie opinion because I imagine replacing the motor puts everything back in sync.

YOu could try re-tuning the wipers. It's kind of a Rube Goldberg machine type of thing. If that doesn't work, then buy the motor and replace it. Does your wipers do anything else that is not right, i.e. start by themselves, not work on some settings of the switch. It they do, then you will need a motor. If your motor got wet, You probably are going to need a motor. I'm still guessing that you are going to need a motor.
