My one of my 03 vette's TPMS stop working for couple months. so i thought it's time to change it. I bought a ORO TPMS instead of the GM part. after i put it on, i try to use the magnet trick to mount it, but it just won't work. it works for the other three which were GM parts. but the ORO one doesn't. i called the factory, they said it should not be the part's problem, it fits C5s. i just want to know, should i bring it to dealer let them mount or what i should do?
Did you buy the proper model for your year of C-5?
the 1997 -2000 models use a different sending unit than the 2001 and up cars. if you bought one for a later model and yours is a early model, it will not recognize the TPMs and visa versa. (you bought early and own a later model)

mine is a 03 c5. it states on the website, the part i bought is for 01-04 c5. so it should work. i just want to know if the magnet trick works on these ORO TPMS, or it's only for GM parts.
replaced two on my 02. Had same problem, even went to dealer and they couldn't get it to go. Wanted to start replacing stuff.
My son had blown up his subwoofer. Used that to train them. No issue and trained as supposed to. Just get a bigger magnet. Oh, dealer used the gm magnet and no go. Just needed a huge magnet.

Never go to the daler unless you have to, Tire Rack sells the same unit GM sells for 38 bucks each, That is why it pays to do your homework, Also AutoZone has them and Kragens.

The '01-04 tire pressure sensors are much cheaper than the earlier C5s use and gmpartshouse.com sells them for around $40. If that sensor you bought doesn't work, I don't understand why the company won't take it back. Anyway, just get a GM one and be done with it - should be no problem with it working properly.
The TPM sensor is a complex unit operating at radio frequency. If the TPM you bought is not the correct unit for your model year it will not work as it wont communicate with the radio frequency receiver in the car.
It might be a case of writing it down to experience and get the correct item.
