What's the link to the "wrong" part? I want to go to that page and check it out and then bitch about it being misleading. That kind of thing irritates me.
says Sold by Overstock_Deals and Fulfilled by Amazon.
amazon gets a product from a seller and ships it thats it. not amazons fault. still amazon will stand by their product no matter what. they will refund you and your shipping. it will be no big deal.

The product description also says:
Auto Extra 618-51042 Oil Filter
by Auto Extra
So it looks like a case of correct product, product description, inaccurate product picture.
Interestingly, all Auto Extra filters I could find have Wix pictures.
According to google research, auto extra is made by the same company that makes Wix, and is their 'cheap brand.'
Further research finds a thread from last August where someone bought Auto Extra filters from Amazon, expecting Wix due to the image.
Hate scams. Did not see a review but posted this question to Amazon "Why does the picture show Wix filter and small print description states "Auto Extra", is this on purpose to mislead or are they are same filter?" Let's see what they answer if anything

I figured "Auto Extra" was just a supplier for the filters. Someone who buys in bulk (cheaper price) and then re-sells for a profit. What I wasn't expecting was to buy what they "advertise" as an actual WIX filter and get something else. That's just not GOOD BUSINESS !

The FTC has description for that: "Deceptive Trade". I prefer the good old-fashioned term: "Bait and switch". So do attorneys.

Agreed. "Fulfilled by Amazon" is not the same thing as "sold by amazon".
Fulfilled means they store it in their warehouse, but they're still selling the product on behalf of the 3rd party seller.
Now, amazon fulfilled usually is better than non-amazon fulfilled sellers, because they're kind of like "power sellers", and amazon has more control over them.
But, still, if it says "Shipped from, and sold by Amazon", that's always your safest bet. Like this one:
BTW, I'm a contractor and about half my work I do is at Amazon warehouses. They're amazing. They have stellar QC standards as far as rejecting damaged products. And they're very efficiently run. They've streamlined and automated so much of the process which is why they're able to offer basically free shipping on a lot of their products.

i actually work as a manager in one of their warehouses and we pride ourselves on being the most customer centric company on earth. We go above and beyond no matter what. If you have an issue customer service will take care of it. To the OP, I don't think you were purposely scammed. i wouldn't doubt the bar codes are the same for both items and that why the picture came up the same. happens a lot.
hit up customer service, they will fix it for you.
Wrong picture but tells you 4x what brand your getting...
As I said before....

Just like Summit and Jeg's, they put their prefix number ahead of the actual part number in their catalogs. BUT you still get a Holley fuel pump OR a Hurst shifter OR Kooks Headers.

Already sent them an email and dropped of the box with the crap filters at UPS.
Amazon's policy states, I get a refund 2 days after item is received. That means a whole week waiting on a refund. Still doesn't solve the problem of "false advertising" on their site.
Just a question here Why is it ok to bash amazon ,but when I had a problem with a Vette supplier I want allowed to post info without preparing a cae with evidence like a trial

What Auto Extra did is plain and simply WRONG !
I agree that you were a victim of "bait and switch"...sort of.
The Jegs/Summit comparison isn't a good one, because they tell you what brand camshaft, shifer, or carb you're getting. If you're observant enough, you realize that the 3 digit prefix is their manufacturer code.
With you oil filters, the sellers' ad specifically says they're selling you an 'Auto Extra' filter, even giving you an 'Auto extra' part number...if anything, it's like Purolator, and their off-brand, 'Power Flo' filters....
