I have a silver '98 vert also. If I were to decide to sell it, I would expect to get $17-20k for it. Mine has 50k miles. The only drawback to paying top dollar for a pristine car, is that if you were to decide to sell it, you may have a hard time recovering all of your investment. I would always pay more for quality, I think you did the right thing. Good luck with your new ride!
for my pristine rarely configured, fully optioned 01 1SC vert with 13,800 2 years ago. With new tires, battery, exhaust, etc, I probably have $28.5 in it. It has 18,500 miles on it now. Everything I have done to it has been done so that it can easily be returned to OEM. Aside from a few barely notieable small chips, it still is as new.
I think you did fine on the price. You,as did I, essentially bought a new C5. And, if the top goes down, the price goes up, at least around these parts. I knew I was paying top dollar, but who cares at less than half the price of a new C5 10 years earlier. Funny thing , 90% of people who see it think it is new. Of course, other Vette owners don't, but most of them also love it. If I could bring myself to part with it, $22K would be the least I would take for it today.
Enjoy!
