I just purchased my 6th vette. 1998 silver vert with only 13k miles. I paid 22k, do you think I did well?? I look forward to hearing from all of you......

I think you did well, but I'll probably be in the minority.

Congrats on finding a low mileage '98 - we do need pics though.

Whether you paid too much or not doesn't matter - you're obviously happy and that's what counts.

I spent $13,500 for mine...but has over 100k miles, I shopped for a long time to find one that had been well cared for and eventually found one, I wanted a cheaper one because I new I was going to do a lot of modding.

$22,000 for that mileage seems about right. Not too many of them out there.

I had a guy offer me $25k for mine after I did all the work to it.

Price kinda seems irrelevant on these cars within reason...if you find the right one for you then its worth what you pay for it.

Personally, for what you get with even just a little bit of modding, these cars are drastically under valued, so anything less than 30k for a well cared for stock car, or $40k for one with upgraded suspension and power is a steal compared to what you would spend for similar performance and styling in most other cars

best bang for the buck of any performance car out there if ya bought it for less than $30-40k in my opinion.

just my opinion

I was going to keep the car mostly stock, I'd pay 22k for a vert with that miledge all day long....thats if I could even find one!

I think the C5's will eventually be collectors cars like some of the early Vettes.

If its "the" car for you, price isn't that important. You will always have those that want to site a car that was cheaper. But if that cheap car is not what you really want it makes little sense to buy it. I have bought both.......I'm much happier with the one some would say I paid way too much for it.

I think you did well if it is what you wanted.
Some will say it was a little high but there is a fudge factor built in where we are willing to pay a little more if the stars are lined up right and it is the right color and everything else we wanted it to be. With that crazy low mileage you probably didn't overpay at all, must be like new....................but.............. threads like this are useless without pictures!

Show us your new ride!

If you click on my name (pjdisci) and view my profile you can see a picture in there.
Why do they make it so hard to place a randon pic in a thread?? It's like the PC capability of this site is from 1992??

I have a silver '98 vert also. If I were to decide to sell it, I would expect to get $17-20k for it. Mine has 50k miles. The only drawback to paying top dollar for a pristine car, is that if you were to decide to sell it, you may have a hard time recovering all of your investment. I would always pay more for quality, I think you did the right thing. Good luck with your new ride!

I couldn't agree more about the price thing. I get tired of hearing people dissect the purchase price of a C5 down to the dollar. In the long run, as long as you don't grossly overpay, it's all the same. That said, the OP did not grossly overpay for a 13k mi. 98 vert.

As for these cars being collectible one day... I'm not holding my breath there but I suppose time will tell...

You may want to replace your tires if they are the original tires. I would not want to ride very fast on 14 to 15 year old tires. I bought a 99 coupe 6 speed with 14k and I replaced my tires. My car was 17k.
