Whats the Best gas to put in our cars?
I would like to know what is the best gas for our cars?
Which one gets the most MPG?
Is there really a difference? I've always thought gas was gas?
I just use the cheapest 85 octane I can find!

I prefer and exclusively use Shell V-Power when I can find it.
My next choice is Chevron. I avoid BP. It is the only brand I get a check engine light( I suspect higher ethanol level)

I use Shell 93 Octane for one very important reason: that's the gas station close to my house.

Your car - you decide. My Dads advice was "oil and gas are the cheapest things you'll put in a car, use the best you can find... "

I read a nice long post by a Fuel scientist on this subject a year or two ago. His thing is they all use certain additives to clean, and they all leave their own deposits. He recommended using one fuel for 3-5000 miles, then switching to another for the next block of miles, and so on.
I only use Tier One fuels, Shell, Chevron, Mobile. No Arco or no names.

In SoCal we only had 91 octane (still ran fine) up here in WA we have 92.

What's the difference in price between 85 and 92.... Like .40 ? $8.00 per tank? I would think that your mpg would go down using a lower octane gas. I use Shell V and stay away from Sunoco due to the higher sulfur content which causes problems with the gas gauge.

When in my home vicinity, I stick with Chevron/Texaco/Shell 93 octane. If I have to put an off-brand, I just add a bottle of Techron, I always travel with at least two 20oz bottles.

Well here is my .02 on this in my DD I run ARCO since the very first tank and it's a Chevy Silverado truck has 307k miles on it so good gas. As for my vette nothing but Chevron 91 and the reason that is that's what the car had in it when I bought it and when I had my tune done so I see it as being reliable.
