Just keep n mind, most people that say "stay clear of salvage titles", have no experiene actually owning one. as I said, they require more research, but they can be great buys.
You can do all the research in the world its still a "Salvage Title car" which takes a huge hit on value along with problem's down the road! Plus some State's make you jump thru hoops to get it on the road ,etc! Like I said the OP can find a clean title Z with ease for a couple of dollars more.
The car the OP is looking at is already titled for road use. The decreased value is already price in and it has 1/2 the mileage of a nearly worn out 100,000+mile car...

100k Nearly worn out, "Really"?? Do you know anything about C5's
I was gonna say if you didn't buy it yet, make sure you check with your insurance company to see if they will insure it. I also was looking at a salvaged vette but between insurance and resale value it wasn't worth it. Just a heads up
With a salvaged title, knowledge is everything. Back when I knew everything about Honda cars, I would buy a salvaged title Civic because I knew what to look for. Also, depending on the price, some times the car parts were worth more than the car.
With the OP, I'd ask a couple of questions. How often do you buy and sell your car(s)? Is this your play car or will you rely on it more often for a daily driver? Are you a DIY kind of guy? Do you have some place you can work on your car and store for long periods of time?
If you keep your cars for only a year or so, then want something else, do not get a salvaged title car. If this is a play car, and you won't rely on it, there's less of a problem if it breaks down due to what ever made it a salvaged title. If you are a DIY guy, it will be cheaper to fix problems. If you have some place to store it, you'll have time to just tear it apart, leave it and fix it when you want.

Get off your high horse. I put the in for a reason. There is a big dfference between a 48,000 car and a 100,000 mile car though. How do I know,, big boy,? I own a 20,000 mile C-5 and a 100,000+ C-5. I'd also venture to say I know a hell; of lot more about C-5s than you'll ever know since I'm very involved in then from many angles on a daily basis.
I was wandering. do you think the OPs neighbor and most likely friend would sell him a car like this one if he didn't think it was a heads up deal ?Remember this car has been driven for 10 years after it had come under the salvage title and that has to say something good about it.Just my 02c
Fred

Get your *** off your high horse. And don't you dare try and complain about someone's spelling until you learn how to write.
OK I will take the devil's advocate position for purpose of discussion. I am not addressing resale value as it is immaterial. You buy a used car it isn't for resale value.
The car is an 02 that was salvaged in 03. It was repaired, is still on the road 10 years later and, according to the OP, drives well.
As we know you don't "straighten" a hydro formed chassis. The General makes replacement sections that can be welded in for repair purposes. When that repair is properly performed what is the problem?
it's resale. figure that car mint with no accidents would get roughly 18k, maybe 19k, 60% of 18 is 10,800, 70% of that is 12,600
that would be the high and low common salvage title percentages. if the car is clean, drives well, repaired right, 13k is reasonable. you could argue 12,600 fairly easily
salvage cars you get in cheaper and sell cheaper. they are just hard to comment on since each one is unique. one may run and drive great, other is a death trap.

I appreciate your position but as I wrote I am not addressing resale value as it is immaterial. (For purpose of determining usability of a properly repaired vehicle). I was asking if people could understand that a properly repaired vehicle with 10 plus years on the road subsequent to the repair was worth buying and using. Few who responded addressed anything but value.
When you buy a used car you are buying a used car. Nothing more, nothing less.

As long as you pay cash and don't consider any modern car an investment, there's nothing wrong with getting a salvage title.
Guys thanks for all the love! Lol... Well I bought the z06. Pics coming. I have to say fellas, it's always been a dream to own a vette.... So far so good!

sure. i've owned salvage titles before. 2 theft recoveries. both had engines that didn't last long. drive it like you stole it is a saying for a reason.
still, both were great cars with no major issues.... other than needing new longblocks which isn't a huge deal
for that low of mileage if the car was repaired right it's a good deal. all c5s are still depreciating. my whole point is if you get in at a good price when you sell it you won't take much of a hit. you could probably run that car to 100k, keep it 5 years and still get 8-9k out of it
