Sorry, man- that does suk. From the consensus here that can be remedied fairly easily, but wouldn't insurance cover something like that? Or is it the kind of thing, why get insurance involved?
Never could understand that sort of mentality!! Hope that it cleans up for you!!
I spent years in law enforcement and saw hundreds of cars vandalized, but I could never understand that mentality. I've gotten pretty angry at some people over the years, but I've never thought about damaging their property. What goes 'round, comes 'round. I'm sorry about the damage.
That really sucks. Even after you clean it up this type of thing always stays in the back of your head. My first car was stolen out of a mall parking lot and I have never forgotten that every time I park any of my cars. Yes, insurance helps, but it's still a pain in terms of time lost and all the other crap involved in making it whole.
If I ever caught someone in the act doing that to my car it wouldn't be a question of law, rather justice! They would be the ones calling the police!
Well the vandalized the school across the street so the cars weren't the original targets we were just an after thought. It should come off. I have a $500 deductible but I'm hoping it doesn't cost more than $500 to get it fixed. I might be able to fix it myself. I've done some paint correction work before. I'll let you all know how it goes. And the police are checking the security cameras at the school.
Exact thing happened to me, they even spray painted my windshield too. I got it all out very easily with Lift off #4. It was like $7 I got it at Home Depot. Worked like a charm. You would never even know that it happened. You will want to use a microfiber too so it'll cost you one or two of those towels as well. Sorry this happened but at least you don't have to go to a body shop. The same night my car got painted, they spray painted someone else's brand new white mercedes. The owner didn't use that marvelous think called google like I did and ended up at a body shop where they totally screwed the paint job up trying to remove it. It never looked right again. Good luck.
That's the very reason I carry, and watch my car. Not that I would shoot first then send condolences to the family, on the contrary, I would detain and prosecute them.
Wow! This the type of thing that scares me. If I had caught this individual, I really couldn't explain my reaction. But I will tell you, he/she would flinch everytime they heard the rattle of a spray paint can. Here in San Antonio, the youth are big on tagging fences, fortunately, they don't mess with cars.
While the young urchins were running down the street wildly "tagging" cars, do you think one said to the other, "Get the 'Vette, man! Get the 'Vette!" ?
Sorry about your car. I've got a product called, I believe, Blue Coral, that is suppose to remove spray paint from automobile. I have not tried it on any of my cars, but if you would like to try it, pm me and I will try to get out to the shop and find it. Just had back surgery, and I'm under the strict supervision of my wife. She doesn't let me get away with anything, so may have to get her to go out and look for it.
Goof Off makes a Graffiti Remover that I have used in the past. I would do a test strip under the nose or rocker panel first though. It's a decent product.
If the car had a good, solid, recent waxing or sealant you should be able to get it off with a claybar. If not, I believe I read some info a while back about none acetone nail polish remover. Doing some quick googling to see if I can find that info.
