Here is a thread about how I ( we ) feel about the " Look " of or C5 and if in fact it stands out from the crowd. Am I insane or does my 14 year old car look that much better than other much newer cars ?
When you set your car up for a photographic session, the light is right and the setting is right and the angle is right. " BUT" when my 14 year old car is sitting in the parking lot at the gym, does it really stand out or is it just that its my car? Honesty is very important here, in your feedback. This thread was prompted by another thread about what our car looks like its worth.
This was shot through the glass at the gym using my cell phone. This is hardly a high quality shot by any means. Any thoughts about your own personal feelings on your car?
I have to agree with you. Mine stands out to me as well. I like the way your car seems to be in focus and the others are somewhat blurred. Almost like we look at our cars "through rose colored glasses" lol.
But, their looks and style is unique and timeless. By far, the best looking body style IMO.
You have a great looking car.
Everything comes to a stop and the cameras come out when I pull up. Then the people form a line and look inside. It's almost an attraction by it's own right.

In focus or not, I think its the distortion in the window glass. Its a very poor quality shot, not designed to enhance the look.. this is just what I see when I'm working out...what you don't see in this picture, are the people coming into the gym while I'm there, and just checking out them checking out my car as they walk by. IN the three years I've been going to this gym, I've seen all types of visual feedback , from pointing to picture taking from gym members walking by. Many people have come up to me over this time offering very positive comments. Most ask what year it is and when I say it 14 years old and has 90,000 miles, the looks are feedback are priceless. From disbelieve to denial, to I'm lying, and even a few arguments.

While the people on this forum only represents a small number of actual corvette owners, many of us are real car people, we take care of our cars and its reflected in their look. Many of the cars in this forum stand out to my eyes even though they are not my car. Be it the wheels or the hood or the paint or the cleanliness. they all contribute to this look I'm talking about. Torque said its because its red, and I agree, that is part of it, but the other thing is the cleanliness. The subtle changes, the hood is so complimentary to the rest of the car. MCM did a great job with that design. Its those things that we do to make our car a bit different than stock and we do it in such a classic way. The car itself lends itself to these changes, and makes the car such a fun platform to expand our vision.
Till I owned one I never noticed the C5 Vette. Don't remember seeing them on the lots or being advertised. Now of course I see them everywhere, even in my sleep . I remember looking at the 78 vette in a chevy dealer when I was very young, but that was it.

The C5 rear end stood out to me right from the start...it was very different at the time...sort of like the Ford Flex when it first came out...you either hated it right away, or it was love at first sight. My C5 will be 17 years old come October of this year. Even I can't believe it is that old...

I don't have the thousands, and for some tens of thousands, of dollars sunk into my 2000 coupe, at least not yet, but that doesn't mean that I don't love my car or am any less proud than those who have. I'm betting I spend more time keeping my baby clean and running as it should than 99% of most car owners in the US and it shows. Everyone in the C2C2 car club has more money invested in their cars than I do; I'm at the bottom rung of the mod ladder, but that doesn't stop my very beautiful, 14 year-old Arctic White coupe from standing out in even a crowd of Corvettes. I get asked all the time if my car is a 2008 or newer model and love to see the shock on people's faces when I tell them the car was built in 1999 and has nearly 85k miles on it.
Not only are your comments right on (the C5 is the best look) you're a stand out kind of guy parking that close to the gym and in only one spot. You're by far a much bravier person than I. Although mine is Speedway White - I must say I haven't seen any C5 color that I didn't like. Cheers

ET - I agree with you ! I loved my 01 Coupe and love my 04 Comm Edition even more. I was always a Corvette fan but I can remember the first time I saw the ads for the C5 on TV - i couldn't believe it was a Vette - absolutely loved the styling and wanted one immediately. I thought for sure it was a European exotic. I still always look back at my car after parking it and can't help staring at it at times. You guys did a great job designing this car !!

Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. A beautiful red C5 Corvette will easily draw a lot of attention in a sea of gray, white and black vehicles, however the fact that he parked between the lines and allowing plenty of room for other cars is a plus. Sometimes owners overthink, park in the corner on an angle and draw more attention to themselves offering the self-justified parking trolls a target.
I agree about the color. I just helped my father-in-law purchase a new Hyundai Sonata. He is a retired firefighter and wanted another red car so after visiting 3 dealerships and seeing every shade of white, silver, gray and black, we finally worked out a dealer swap and had a red one brought in based on his requested options/specs. It was nice after leaving the restaurant with him a few days later and immediately spotting his red car among the sea of silver, bronze, white and black cars!
ET you are not alone! I really liked my car the second I saw it in the for sale ad and thought wow that is a beautiful car. I truly fell in love with the way it looks when I was on a trip about 2 weeks after getting it when I was up in Tahoe. It was parked in a big parking lot and I looked out over the parking lot and saw all the neutral colored vehicles. They were all boring and bland looking with the exception of 1 car. My 2000 TR Vette! It5 stood out in the entire parking lot! It wasn't because it was mine that it stood out. It stood out because of the color and the style! I have to admit sometimes I do feel a little narcissistic about my Vette and I wonder if it is just me but I love to just look at it. Again it is just such a beautiful car to look at!
And ya I get the looks of disbelief also when I tell people that mine is a 2000 with 128k miles on it! Even better is when I tell them I would have paid more buying a brand new Ford Fiesta than I did paying for my Vette!

IMO our cars really shine when they are in a parking lot full of other "normal" cars. Anytime I come out of Walmart or some other type of store/gym I can always spot my car right away. I am always getting complements about how good it looks and people are always shocked when they find out that its a '98. They all swear that its way newer. My car is white so it does blend in a little more than yours. I would imagine that Red or Yellow would really pop.

I always park smart.... think about this... Im parked next to a handicapped spot.. this is the gyms parking lot... in the three years that I've been here.. no one has ever parked in the handicapped spot... I'm on that treadmill in the window for an hour and five minutes.. IM right there... When I say I park
smart, that doesn't mean out there in the boon docks either.
