Some people live where they do not have access to a garage. We are lucky to have a garage that our C5 is housed, and since it is black, and not a daily driver, we keep a dust car cover over it.
I SAW a guy who parked his Corvette at the store and came out to find a woman with her large pocketbook ( tote ) sitting on the back of his Corvette. the guy walked up slowly and grabbed her bag and threw it 50 feet across THE PARKING LOT, got in his car a drove away. I SMILED.
Now I'm not proud of this story, but my junior year of high school 4 years ago, I had an F250 that I kept perfectly clean, no rust, no swirls, etc, the same way we treat our Corvettes on here, and I kept finding trash in the bed of my truck everyday. I tried to play it off and just throw it away everyday without throwing a fit, until one day one of the papers had the kids name on it after putting up with this crap for over a month. The next day me and a buddy each had 2 44oz cups full of sticky Dr. Pepper, and we dumped them down the roof of his 95 v6 Camaro (that he thought was fast lol) so it'd run down his car everywhere lol. Never found trash in my bed ever again.

If you have a truck or a buddy with a truck, I suggest going to Lowes and getting a bunch of bricks or manure, and setting some on their car as you unload it.
How about a load of concrete. Most mixers carry about 9 yards. (grin)

For what it's worth, a corvette body shop owner looked over the slight pagoda effect on my c5 convertible trunk lid and said it was from people putting grocery bags on the top of the trunk while they get the keys out. So I don't place things on top of my trunk.
And , sorry to be a downer all round, don't bet a lot of money on the car cover protection theory. The kid who stole the radio out of my old jag said he always looks for covered cars, they have the best stuff. I always run a cover, to keep it clean.
I couldn't offer any advice about dealing with the folks next door. Obviously, a lot depends on who you are talking to and the stakes involved .
I sit here in my palacial estate with 24/7 monitoring cameras in the detached parking garage and NEVER have a worry about stupid people........ I wish. It's just a car, and things are going to happen. Kudos to you for educating your ignorant neighbors.

I'd have done the screaming and yelling thing. Infliction of bodily harm might have followed.
