Default 2000 vert...electrical problems

Seems I've got a short somewhere. Today, I had problem with all my
drivers side window and lock controls...then as I was driving...I got various messages like .....reduced engine power....service engine soon,
then all gauges would not work and radio also turned off. Car ran ok.
I stopped at a light and turned it on and off again and the messages cleared, but thirty seconds later came back again. I should note ..It was raining hard.

Scan your codes and post them:
Turn ignition to on.
Hold the options button and hit fuel button four times.
This will enter the diagnostic mode and it will scroll through the codes (by module) that have been set. Codes that have an H behind them are "history", codes with C are current. Post up the codes you get and we can help you out.

I would check for loose battery terminals.
Clean the ground connectors under the hood.
Have the battery/alternator tested.

Sounds like too many symptoms to diagnose with the DIC.

Probably the connections in the accordion tube from the doors. Do an Advanced search on "Accordion"

I would also make sure the drain (udders) for the wipers are not clogged, which could cause a water back up.

thanks for the input....it is definitely in the door accordion. When I open the door and pull on the boot all problems temporarily disappear.

Default So far ...so good

After searching "accordion" I found several great posts with detailed
photos....I opened the accordion and found the blue connector with the
little bare wire extending out...I checked the contacts and they were ok. I wrapped the bare wire with some good electrical tape and put it back in...just drove the car and the problem seems to be corrected.

I LOVE THIS FORUM....just think where we would be without all this free, first hand advice from members who have been there...we'd be
at the dealer shelling out bocough bucks for someone who doesn't have a clue about the REAL issue and winds up replacing many random
expensive parts (according to the shop manual, which also doesn't have a clue)...only to have the problem reoccur.

I figure this forum has been worth many thousands of dollars to me over the last several years....keep posting and keep driving that vette!
