Check to see where your nearest Fastenal is located. That should be on the shelf for them. Look in the yellow pages for "fasteners"

McMaster-Carr should have it. I think nearest one to you is probably Chicago, probably 2-3 days even standard UPS.

I have two rear leaf spring bolts with the rubber bushings that I removed recently when I installed Pfadt coilovers. They have about 42k miles on them. You can have them for free. PM me your info and I will ship them tomorrow.

I don't understand why the dealer has to be such an a-hole. They could have just put a bolt in for a minimal cost and made a customer for life, who might have even posted online about how great this dealer was. Instead, he insured that no one would even consider going there for anything. Just because he wanted to rip someone off.

Agree. Which dealer?

By the way, glad you have a bolt on the way!

What a disgraceful dealer, thieving SOB's!!
I hope your repairs go well, what you have to do is not a difficult job. Take your time.
We have many many great folks who are extremely helpful!

I have converted my C5 coupe to coil overs, and have std parts also available, if you need anything send me a pm.

It's an easy job, trust me. I can't believe they were going to charge you that much to do this. I had the same one break on me on an off ramp from the interstate (a little scary). Mine broke because the PO had removed the bushings all together for lowering purposes. Luckily I had discovered this already and had found a used set with bushings from someone here on the forums as well. Called my dad and had him pick them up from my house along with a jack, jack stands, and a couple wrenches. Fixed it on the side of the road right there. Seriously, that easy.

Well, I just made it back to the house with the car. Didn't wind up getting a tow. Instead I jacked the car up in the dealership's lot just enough to chain the spring to the control arm. Had no issues along the way, didn't make any friends on the road though since I drove 10mph tops. As it turns out, the bolt that snapped was a factory bolt, original to the car. Not anything aftermarket.

I did wind up having to pay the dealership's "standard diagnosis fee". I'm sure they had to work real hard to figure our what was wrong with it, after I already told them what it was. Not real happy about that considering an oil change takes more work and costs less. But whatever, I'm just glad its back home.

I'll let you guys know how the fix goes...

Good for you, darn dealerships, truly suck "diagnosis fee" what BS!!
If dealers behaved with actual honesty and customer focus, instead of raping and plundering everybody!! Who knows they may actually have repeat customers......

This dealership should be ashamed...I would not let this go. Contact GM headoffice (cc the dealership) and let them know just what kind of guys they have representing them out there and let them know you shared this with the CF. Get some names of the service manager etc and use them in complaint. I don't believe what I am reading. These guys are shameless thieves and charging you just to rob you to boot. OOOh I am steaming!

Did the dealership actually say that the outrageous fee was just to install a bolt?

No way I'd pay $681 for replacing the bolt - that dealership is nuts. Do it yourself and save a bundle.
