Does anybody else get this reaction?
When I started saving for my corvette my Sister told me I needed to buy a truck, that men are supposed to have trucks.
The other day I was talking to a girl and she told me I should get rid of the vette and purchase a truck or jeep.
I think This has a lot to do with living in the south.
I don't care what people think I love this car and that is all that matters to me. Just curious if anybody else has heard the same from people.
(Little update 1 year later I now own a truck.)

I don't remember reading anything in the Guyble about a mandatory requirement of owning a truck. It's a good thing too because I really don't care for trucks much. They use too much gas and aren't anywhere near as comfortable to drive.

I got a truck to haul crap with, got a vette to haul *** in. If your girl wants to ride with in the truck to the county landfill, ok. But you should ask her if she wants to ride in your vette or give that seat up to another girl who wants the seat time.

I also live in the deep south north Mississippi, most guys here do own a jeep or a truck. But the really lucky guys like me own all three.

No. I dont get that, What I get is people saying I must be rich because I have a Vette. lol
But its ok for them to have a $40,000 truck or suv ???
I have learned that people are basically clueless about cars , they drive what they want and so should you. I love my Vette as it is everything I want for a fun daily driver.
Just tell them you are refined and dont have the redneck gene in you

I get more of the " Damn,, how'd ya afford that!" from the guy driving a new diesel F250 that cost over $40K.
I do have a truck too and it's old and ugly 4X4.

Trucks are ok; I've had a few. BUT, they are purpose vehicles for me, and could never take the place of a good, fast car. My Ranger hauls me to work every day, and I don't mind it being dirty. It's got warm heat, cold air, a new CD player, and not a hell of a lot else. Trucks are just simply for work.

The funny thing is I plan to get a truck in the near future but just a old beater that I won't put money into or anything.

I have a 17 year old daughter and she says the same thing. Most young guys are into trucks because they're "in" right now. Probably has something to do with the popularity of country rock and guys like Luke Brian singing about trucks and parties, etc.
All good as I like trucks as well. What I don't like is the game of chicken a lot of lifted truck owners seem to enjoy when driving around town. I'll be out in the vert in stop and go traffic and they just love to ride on my *** and rev their engines.
I think trucks are cool, I just have no practical need for one. Our SUV pretty much covers any cargo I need to carry. Then I have my business sedan and Corvette.
However, even with trucks being "cool", my daughter still loves my Corvette and always asks that when I pick her up from a friends house, school, etc., that I drive the Vette!

I think in a perfect world you would have a Corvette or other sports car. A truck and a luxury sedan.
My choice would be
My 01 NBM Corvette coupe
2014 Z71 or Raptor
and a Cadillac CTS or ELR

SUV/Wife's primary vehicle (Done!)
C5 Corvette Convertible (Done!)
C7 Corvette Z06 (Saving my pennies)
Cadillac CTS or Infiniti Q50 Daily Business Driver (Comparing 2014 models later this fall!)
The Corvettes will then share a bunk bed 4-post lift.
