This is what happens when a $40K+ car gets older and sold for $18K. Not all circumstances of course but, you get people that buy these cars that have no business being in one and the 4 listed above are probably prime examples of the end result of the car being pushed past it's capabilities. You can't fix stupid.
More car than driver. 
Combine that with the fact that there are far more motor-vehicle-operators out there than there are drivers and, well........

I almost added my '04 to that list a couple of weeks ago. Met 2 blue hairs driving the wrong way on the 4 lane. Great brakes and paying attention saved a head on collision.
