Coming from someone who probably makes 100k.+ per year. Not everyone gets their Vette the easy way and they have the right to be concerned .

The only tools I carry in my Z is a set of jacking pucks.

You're with the majority. I take mine off and take to shop. I don't trust anyone lifting my Vette.

I used to take my wheels off the car and take them to the shop, but I kept getting wheel damage. I also do quite a few wheel/tire changes.

So I am really sick, I bought a tire machine and a balancer so that I can do it in my garage.

Potentially stupid question: assuming the sensors are not replaced and the wheels go back to their original locations, why would they need to be reset/retrained/whatever?

I've brought just the wheels and tires in before for a tire change. A little extra work but minimizes the potential for damage to the car.

I do the same thing.....

Its a no brainier to me.

If your not fully confident in a shops ability to know how to avoid damage to your car, why even take the chance of getting involved in a major hassle?

Less than an hours work to take off the wheels and put them back on yourself. Not exactly back breaking labor.

Just bought 4 Jack Pad tools from Reverse Logic today. Going to take them with me to the dealer when buying new tires. Will watch to make sure car is jacked up correctly. If they give me any grief I will just walk out.

Sounds good. Just one problem. I only have one car. Maybe I can take a taxi.

That also gives you a different perspective on thread topics like "Do you drive your C5 in the rain?".
