This has happened on more than one Corvette. Yes, it can be rewelded back on. The price will vary from shop to shop. Just check around and see what they charge.
Happened to my '99 at 50k miles. Upon inspection, it wasn't as much of a crack on mine as it was almost no penetration of the factory weld. The original orientation should be visible where the pieces line up. That's how I marked mine to have it welded back on while off the car. Make sure the welder knows it's cheap 4xx series stainless, not mild steel.
Thanks for quick reply guys,i had a feeling i wasnt the only one this has happened to.and yes i agree it looks as if the flange was never penetrated when welded,wl99

Happened on my car in 2005, I went somewhere, came back out and started car it sounded weird, looked out back and the 4 tips were out of alignment.
Ended up just buying a used set with factory chrome tips off Craigslist for 100 bucks, mine were not chrome tips.
The flange gaskets I paid a fortune for though at a GM Dealer as I could not seem to find them anywhere.
I was a hillbilly and drove the car for a long time with no mufflers, at first i thought it sounded good, but it would pop on deceleration like a old clunker, finally I got tired of it, the used mufflers were more quite, but also the tone sounded good and deep, refined vs no mufflers like a loud high pitch sound.
I used a 3 ton harbour freight jack, and more than 1 phone book and pieces of wood to get the car high enough, to get the angle need to get the mufflers in and out.
I was very nervous and never got under the car while doing this, if I would have known, I could have bought a used Z06 set of mufflers, but for a hundred bucks, it's ok.
I'm gonna say you pretty much need a car lift to do this job, you have to get the back way up high to slip those pipes over the suspension, also lower the sawy bar out of the way.
The smart way to do this repair is to take the car to a shop that has a lift, you need to get the back jacked up a minimum of 29 inches. Lower the sway bar ......just take it to a shop
