I had a '97 Coupe before the '03 Vert, I wouldn't have another closed Vette. I've noticed that when it rains hard it leaks a little on the forward part of the door glass. It leaks much less if I run the windows up after closing the doors, another bonus of a Window Valet
Since my car is a weekend toy instead of a DD, I chose convertible. I don't even like to drive the car with the top up, it spends all of its time with the top down, except when getting washed. Noting beats top down on a warm Summer evening right around dusk, favorite time to drive.
And like I have told everyone since I bought this car, if there was ever a day in your life you weren't getting enough attention, spend the afternoon in a yellow Corvette convertible.
My wife's is a 04 black on black convertible. I see no cons to a convertible other than wind noise at highway speeds. I had a Porsche C4 cab that had a windscreen in it and it was so quiet on the highway. I will order the windscreen for the vette this spring. I think the conv vette has the best look of all the vettes.
Kind of surprising, The wife is always asking me to put the top down.
She's like, That's the fun of going for a drive. You know how it is, Happy wife happy life.
I've never even considered buying a Corvette or any other classic car for that matter unless it was a convertible. There is just something so much more sporty about a convertible. And the women seem to like them better , not that it matters to us old farts though.
We've owned convertibles for years. Got our first one way back when we were teenagers. Dating. MGB Roadster.
Though over the years we've noticed through our friends, there's not much middle ground on convertibles. You either like em or hate em. Up until recently both our DDs were verts.
I couldnt see us without one. Even if it was just weekender type car.
The most popular comment I hear and read is that they are loud. Yep, valid. The Vette is actually one of the few verts we've owned that is quieter with the top down. Not too loud that we would get rid of em soley based on that issue.
I have an 80 T-Top and an 04 vert , no comparison vert all the way that is a true sports car. I have a top on my BUICK
As for trunk space lots there , we drove from California to Ottawa and had lots of room for all our stuff.
if you live in the south, no question....the Convertible. You have plenty of room in the trunk, and if you need more for a short time, you can easily put up the top, and you have as much or more room than a coupe.
Perhaps you'll better appreciate a roofed sports car once your testosterone level improves and your head loses it hair.
Sunburned, bald heads aren't fun; neither is driving top-down at 2 PM in 110 degree summer heat. And driving with a goofy baseball cap on my head ain't geting it for me.

My wife and I agreed that it had to be a convertible. We took lots of family-visit trips this year; top up on the interstate and down the rest of the time, weather permitting. Also, I get lots of looks from both drivers and pedestrians and comments from other drivers, especially with the top down.

The (scaley, bald-headed) Lizzard

I'm fairly new to the Corvette convertible world, having mine for just 3 months now and having experienced too few perfect days of cruising, before being over for the year. The problem for me is that I've developed a new way of thinking and talking.
What I found is that I don't want to drive fast with the top down. In fact I want to drive a lot slower than the speed limit and prolong every second! Cruising through the countryside, I always hope I am the only car on the road, cause I can slow down to about 2/3 the speed limit and ENJOY the zen moment! All the senses are being stimulated—the open sight lines, the sound of the exhaust growl, the smell of the fresh air, the feel of the wind! Pure bliss! I groan when I see a car coming up on me since you just cannot be caught driving a vette way under the speed limit! During these time of pure euphoria, I find myself mindlessly saying the same hackneyed phrase over and over again:
"IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!"
I'm not in just any convertible—this is a CORVETTE! When the top is up, it is Jekyll and Hyde.
