Am I too old?
So I was watching Top Gear and the subject was "mid life crises" and my wife just laugh. One of the cars was a C-4 (red of course) and the other two was a hot rod and a yellow Porsche.
My question is am I going through a mid life crises?
I've owned my C-5 for 11 years now (I'm 58) and back in 76 I had a 74 for about 6 years until life kicked in the I had to sell it to get something a bit more practical. I went without a Vette for sometime until the kids grew up. I knew that one day I was going to get another because "once a Vette owner, always a Vette owner", right?
Anyway I need some support from you guys. Should I keep her or is it time to sell?

I'm not a believer in the mid-life crisis . I tend to think that as I got older, I just found an appreciation for the finer things in life such as a Corvette.
If I would look at my life span at 58 I would have been past my mid life years. Being 67 I am into enjoying this end of my life span with the cars I love. Keep the car if you still enjoy it.
I am 61, I too owned a C4 (91, red of course) sold it about 4 years ago, bought a C5, have had it 2 years now, still love it, as long as the car satisfies you, I'd keep it, believe me you will miss not having a vette!!!!
I found that in my relative old age ( 68 ) the secret of life is to be happy. If a Corvette makes you happy then enjoy it. If a Lexus makes you happy go for that.
The one thing you don't want to do is have some one other than yourself, tell you what your should have to make you happy.
I've never asked anyone here or anywhere else for that matter to validate something I wanted to have.

I still enjoy her, I just hate that I run across some idiot that wants to race.
Now THAT I'm too old for.
BTW, you're not that old.

Just my point of view

Funny you said that. I just bought a 95, triple black Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham because I've always wanted a BIG Cadillac.
And she has the LT-1 engine.

At 55, I'm still not old to show some Justin Bieber punk what a C5 can do. Heck, I do the same when in my MX-5, although the number of faster vehicles is a lot greater.
Mid Life Crisis...........that is something made up by women to explain what they perceive as embarrassing behavior by their man. Women use this term when they don't want to use the truth or when they simply don't understand. They will use it to not only explain the behavior to others, but to themselves.
When a man is unfaithful after many years of marriage a woman will tell herself it's a mid life crisis and he won't do it again. It's a lot easier to accept than the truth. The truth being he found the hotty down the road more desirable than her.
Most women and a lot of men don't understand why an older man would want a fast flashy car. In their mind fast flashy cars are associated with young guys. So they use the mid life crisis to explain to themselves why an old guy likes fast cars.
I have lifelong friends that have never owned a performance car of any kind. They never questioned why I had a big block 4 speed car when I was a teenager. They never questioned why I bought a new Trans Am when I was 22. I buy a Corvette when I'm in my 50s and I'm having a mid life crisis. Simple truth is I've always been a car person. It's something they just don't get.
I did a similar thing myself. I was determined to own a Vette before turning 40 and I got my first one at 39. Sadly I only kept it a couple of years but got rid of it when our daughter turned 16 and insurance rates went through the roof. I got my next one just before I turned 63 and I've had it just over 3 yrs now and have no intention of driving anything but a Vette from here on. DW says I don't drive it enough and she does actually think I went through a midlife crisis in my late 50's. She also repeatedly tells me I've never grown up.
your not buying a car your buying an investment. this will make all them young punks **** themselves when they see you step out of your toy at any car show or any social gathering.
Bought my first '01 Vette a few months ago and I'm 58....always wanted one since the kid around the block came rumbling by the playground in that black '63 Split Window Coupe when I was around 10 years old. I had a '73 Z-28 Camaro back in the day so I guess once a gear head always a gear head...enjoy it my friend...I do...especially when I have my hot blonde sitting next to me...LOL !!!
I say forget what anyone else says. I too am 58 started with Vettes when I was 28. I dont have to defend myself to anyone who says its "MIDLIFE CRISIS" How can you beat these cars for cost versus preformance. So ignore what you hear..Ride on ,,,

As far as keeping or selling your wife..thats up to you. I say that because I know you are not asking about selling the car!!!
