The car will be put smack dab in the middle of the garage as soon as I get the storage units installed this next week.

Mark, welcome back to a place that has winter. My garage isn't even insulated. I have been known to start a project wearing a heavy winter coat. I usually end up switching to something lighter as I start exerting myself a bit more. I also have a small space heater that helps a little, but not much. Good luck getting everything setup just the way you want it.

Thanks, I'm gonna have to get rid of my Arizona blood before I can do what you do. This is my first year away from the mild and super hot south. I'll need a good heater first. 🥴

Bought a couple storage cabinets today and got them put together. Tomorrow I'll spend the day with mom and dad so Wednesday I'll be back out there arranging everything I hope. Time to make that place usable again.

Those are cardboard matting panels for some pictures I'm getting framed that's on the car. Not harming anything.

Yes, the menards in my town didn't have any, so I trekked 30 miles and they only had 2. If I need another one or 2, which I am leaning towards, I'll wait until they get them in stock here. How do you like them?

Love them. I have the six large cabinets in the detached garage and two more in the attached garage. Once I can get the girlfriend's 21 year old son to move out (please God let it be soon), I'll move my man cave from the detached garage into his room. Then I'll buy a couple more for the detached garage. One can never have too much storage space for extra parts. Just last night I purchased a C5 steering wheel with air bag as it was CHEAP. I've always wanted to upgrade mine and I can send this one off to APSIS (which won't be cheap ) without any downtime.

Looks like things are coming along. I used to watch some of your videos when you were out working in 100+ degree temps, and wondered how in the world can he do that. I guess it's just what you're used to.

Thanks for that info. I'm going to be sure and get a few more then. I know I'll need them. You'll love the apsis wheel too. I love mine.

Yeah, I thought I was nuts too. 😆 I do like being around "home" again though. Even with the below zero temps at times. Just going to take a little time to get my work area to a manageable climate for myself.

I've heard that old saying "It has to get worse before it gets better!" in my brain today and I think I'm in that boat now. Had to quit for the day as it was getting chilly out there again. I think the weather is going back to cold again. I'll go back out tomorrow and hopefully get it cleaned up for good. I may go back to menards and pick up 1 or 2 more cabinets too. These ones I've bought are actually working out well too. I like them so far. I picked up a couple smaller ones today so the plug-ins on the wall won't be covered up and I'll be able to access them.

Mini-Grape gets some fresh air. He got all scratched up in the move so I'm pretty depressed and not sure I want to get him painted again yet.

Need to take the garbage can with me tomorrow and get rid of some crap I know I won't use anymore.

Hey Mark. You sure do have a lot of stuff.
A couple of space heaters will make it comfortable pretty quickly.

I did find one and had it going today. Took the "nip in the air" off a bit but didn't make it to where I could take the jacket off. Another one might do the trick. A lot of what's left is going into the garbage as I'm sure I'll never use whatever I haven't used yet in all those years I've kept it. Not sure what "IT" is until I open those boxes that are left.

Time flies and suddenly we have accumulated a lot of car parts, cleaners, fasteners etc. You are a little better at it than me though.
Every once in a while, usually when we move, we begin to reduce the amount of stuff. Usually half as much as we plan to.

I used to keep a large box of wires and adapters and parts for pcs, but the tech there has now moved ahead and also stabilized a bit so I tossed it. I kept similar for the garage but recently reduced it to two large old protein shake plastic containers as just a variety of bolts, nuts, adapters. It has remained remarkably worthy during the project. I have enjoyed regaining floor space this past fall as all the scattered parts have gone back on the car.... Engine, tt, transmission and rear, fw, clutch, sway bars, rotors, control arms, fuel tanks and lines, scatter shield, crossmember, bearings... I had to tiptoe into that one bay to try to do work and not touch the paint. Now the floor is clear and there is space to work. When I'm done the shelves themselves will be empty. I already got the ps pump and accessory bracket in last time I was out there. It's coming down to largely basic install stuff soon. Two more lines for steering and then the entire rewire for the Haltech computer and suddenly stuff can move along more easily.

The value of a clean and clear work space is immeasurable yet tangible to the user.

I do tend to be a hoarder when it comes to parts and some things I "might" use again someday. Most of this "stuff" was still boxed up from when I moved from Arizona to Tennessee. Never got to the point where I unboxed a lot of it down there as I never really needed it at the time. Pretty windy and cold here this morning so I'm going to wait until around noon to go back it there again. Wind is at 23 mph, temp is 22 but with the wind feels like 6. Suppose to get up to 27 today...To cold for this thin blooded old man. 🥶 🥶 🥶 🥶 🥶 🥶

I've been following your build, TUSC. That's a very impressive thread to read. Glad it's getting to the point where you can see the light.

Good progress today. Temp was only 22 but felt like 6. Not as windy either. Fired up my small space heater and it actually got up to 40 in there. Boxes are taken care of now, so I'm all set for the new toolbox to get in so I can pick it up. Should be here Sunday from what they told me. Lots of room to play with that now and Grape has plenty of room all around him now too. I can relax for a couple days now.

I will be getting 1 more tall cabinet and putting it on the left side. That will let me be able to get rid of another shelf I won't need. It will look lot more organized and cleaner that way. Got the stereo working now too. Old school, over the air radio stations.

Lots more room now.

Security camera shot.

Same shot only no sunlight.

Had something weird on the camera too.

It sensed something moving that was in the previous shot.

Got my new rolling toy today. Finally can put all my tools into one box and not have to remember, or hunt through, multiple boxes for what I know I have, someplace. I am leaning towards getting the top box for it now just because I know I'll be able to use it. I'll wait for another coupon before I get that though. That 20% off sure comes in handy.

There is a whole subculture on facebook where guys post how they mod the us general boxes. I should shut my mouth because without other outlets right now you might dive into it. But what's wrong with the box maybe sporting a stereo and info center and being painted to match grape?

Next is cutting the Kaizen foam.

Since I began doing the layer cutouts I know a tool is lurking around.

Top pic is my first toolbox with drawers. A Craftsman from about 1970. Still in great shape. Back then one of these boxes and a ratchet set was big time.

The top drawer on the General holds nearly all of my sockets, ratchets, and extensions. Note that red trays can be pulled out as a unit, but the wide base keeps everything tight.

I've heard of people doing that with toolboxes. I can't leave anything alone for very long so I'm sure I'll be doing something to it sooner or later. I'll look into that facebook thing too. I've always wanted an orange car, wife doesn't like orange, so I told her I'm getting an orange toolbox and she'll never have to drive it or look at it. It will most likely be staying orange for a while. 😏

I use to use that cutout thing when I worked on aircraft too. When I spotted a space that was missing a tool, I'd go searching for it because it was a bad thing if one went missing in the wrong places. I'm not sure if I'll do that again until I can see how much space they'll all take up when they're in the box. I do need more socket clips though. I will be searching for more of those soon. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the top box soon too.

Thanks for all the tips. 😎👍
