Frank

I ordered my '98 in Sept also but then cancelled it and reordered again in Dec '97 when learned active handling was coming out and I received mine up in March '98. Does your C5 by chance have one of the first AH units?

No it does not have AH. These early cars did not have much but that was fine with me. the less electronic the better. The c5 was hard to come by . only one dealer had cars I could drive in pittsburgh. And they wanted 3 grand over sticker, I was able to get mine at crivelli chevrolet were I payed sticker. they were only getting 12 corvettes the whole year. I sat in front of a computer and was able to order each option down the line. there were no packages. All I wanted was the body and the motor, I do have the 315 gears, no duel zone. Plane Jane and I love it. I have done a lot of upgrades to improve on what GM had done.

Yes, they were hard to come by is right.....when mine came in in March '98 the dealer offered me $1500 to take it and just walk. After being excited for months after ordering I just could not do it.
