"Remove key, wait 10 seconds...."

Search the forum for "column lock bypass". Most of us who have experienced the "remove key" notification have made this mod and those who did want to wait joined in. Easy to do and inexpensive.

Could simply be a dirty pellet on the key
If the antitheft system doesn't see the proper resistance on the ignition key you might get that message. Use alcohol on the key pellet and maybe some electrical contact cleaner in the ignition.

In for results
I've noticed that since my c5 stays on a battery minder I haven't had that issue but since my car has been at my house for the last week or so(no minder)and yesterday I got the "pull key...". So now I believe the battery needs to be really charged to eliminate this issue but I have to say I have owned this car for eight months/maybe 4K miles and I had forgotten about the pull key... until this last time.

I have the LMC5 install and still get that stupid message hit and miss every so often. I never had my steering wheel lock up or that message before hand but I did it anyways and I get that message once in a while. Gets on my nerves. Pull key wait 10 seconds blah blah

Contact the vendor for the LMC5. (Compliance Parts) They have other versions of their product that will get rid of the message. Vendor is very good working with you on the issue.......... Some cars are more difficult than others to get rid of the Pull Key........... message.

Remove Key, Wait 10 Seconds Issue
OBTW, there is no danger of the steering column locking up while you are driving. However, where ever you are parked, when you turn the ignition on and see "Pull Key, Wait 10 Seconds"...if you do not do this, your column will lock up and your engine will die. The intermittence of this message will drive one mad. Anyway, there you have it. Best of luck.

I have a 2003 ZO6. I have had it for several years. This issue started up for me last year. I have done extensive research on this issue. It's a erroneous error that occurs...that just occurs for some reason...sooner or later...or maybe never. When you start your car, if you see the message: "Remove key, wait 10 seconds"...if you do not do this your steering wheel will lock up and your engine will die. The error is intermittent and will drive one nuts. I ruled out not having a battery with 120 reserve and/or checking for voltage drop. In my case, I ruled this out. The solution for me was to buy from Compliance Parts, in Malibu, CA, their LMC5 Module Column Lock Bypass. Install this module and you will never see this error message again! Here is the link: http://www.complianceparts.com/lmc5ataglance.html
