Thanks
Instead of 2 stage car paint with clearcoat like the rest of the striping I used hammertone grey and black spraycans from Value Home Center
since it's only the rear valence.
It gave me a nice satin finish, dried quickly and came out very good.
Got some stainless steel grilles coming to finish it off.

In preparation for winning the free stripes from VetteStripes, would all of you with Stripes please post a pic of your C5 with stripes? I'm not looking for cars with GS stripes only...Jim
As the person who will be winning the stripes, I'd like to thank you for posting this thread for me to help me make a decision on which ones to get.
Added these to the rear valence that I two toned this weekend
Thanks for posting that. I was thinking about painting my valence just a slightly darker shade as well. I like it....gives it depth rather than just being blacked out. cool.....

I first painted it all black and thought it was too dark so I taped off the stripes part and redid it in the Hammertone silver grey which was the shade I was looking for.
Not a lot of in between light silver or primer grey and black colors out there.
If you are going to do the 1/4" finish stripe I'd get the blue plastic tape from an automotive paint supplier so you get a clean edge without any paint running under the tape.
It bends better like pinstriping tape around sharp curves than regular masking tape.
This commonly available Rustoleum Hammertone gives a nice semi gloss finish.
