I've had a bike rack ( trailer hitch ) on my '98 vert for years now, no problems whatsoever. You can hardly see the hitch nestled between the exhaust tips - it's black against the black background of the flat black piece in between exhaust tips. Carry one bike on the outer holders so less chance of scratching paint when loading. Go for it, you won't regret it.
Every time I see a rack of any kind on a Vette, it makes me cringe. But that's just me.
Why? Some people want to use their Vettes to the fullest and I am behind them 100%. Cruisin the Vette to some State Park or Bike trail is a great way to use a Vette. Better than keeping it in the garage. Since half the fun is getting there, we are taking ours camping this summer.
Not a dumb idea, I was looking for a rack yesterday to haul my bike out to Denver this summer, nothing out there for a Vert. So, next best thing will be to break the bike down into parts. But if anyone finds one, please pass the info on.
Thanks

That was the thought I was going with. Cruising in the Vette isn't going to get rid of my winter weight. I have the Vette and a company truck with me . The truck doesn't go two feet farther than it has to. Was seeing if it was even an option. So far breaking it down sounds OK. If it will fit with the top down.. Bonus points
There are hitches for 'Vettes and there are bike racks that mount to hitches (I have three hitch-mount racks but use them cars other than the 'Vette) so this is totally doable. I have a convertible C5 and have thought often about getting the hitch so I have the option of taking my bike with me on 'Vette road trips.
Been doing some research Googlizing, Binging, and have had actual e-mail correspondence with some fellow Forum members.
I, and I think others, would like to see some pics of actual HITCHES. that have been either purchased or fabricated to allow one to attach a bike rack. I for one don't really want to give up the SS plate between the exhaust. I could see a removable SS plate that is incorporated with the hitch when not in use, but that is sheer speculation on my part.
Once again ... Thank you, this place rocks!!

A bike rack...Seriously? Well after reading the responses I see it's a ligament request....but personally I would consider a "old Beater" to haul before installing a trailer hitch or modifying a vet to accommodate a bike. seems a little crazy.

Crazy for actually wanting to drive the Vette? Half the fun is getting there. Believe it or not.
