I am going to fire up the Vette this weekend after it's 5 month nap. Probably not going to drive it on the roads for a few weeks, but I'm going to do some work on it. I have never used a tender before, but now I am going to try one so I don't have to run it every couple weeks to keep the battery charged. I was wondering if it's better to use the cigarette lighter plug or to connect it right to the battery. Any preferences? Or doesn't it make any difference?

So the battery has not been hooked up for 5 months? Better to hook it to the battery, but only leave it hooked up when you are home. Its gonna need to charge a while. Should have been on a tender all winter.

There has been no battery in it for 5 months. I have a fresh, fully charged battery ready to go back in it.
It is best to remove the battery for long term storage.

You are going to have to do an idle relearn at the least. Not sure what else...

No, the only thing I might have to do is reset radio presets. GM recommends disconnecting battery for long term storage. Since it gets to 30 below here in the winter I would never leave the battery in the car.
My Deltran Battery Tender came with a set of clamps and another harness with ring terminals. I use the ring terminal harness on my C5. The hot lead is attached to the post that sits just outside the fuse box and the ground lead goes to the frame ground next to the negative side of the battery.
So all I have to do is to plug the battery tender feed wire into the small harness. The small harness easily tucks away when not needed. It even comes with a small cap to protect the terminal ends.
I just went out and put the battery in and it fired right up after a 5 month nap. Purred like a kitten and didn't even have to reset the radio stations. It's a shame the roads are so salty, not to mention the potholes, or I would take it out for a spin. I might just start it up once a week before the driving season to keep the battery charged. It sounds so damm nice. I sure missed that.
Now for oil and coolant change, replace hoses and get it ready for cruisin.
