Button on center console
I just purchased a 2000 C5 and I can't figure out what the button on my center console is for. It has a dash and circle on it. I looked through the manual and couldn't find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Post a picture. The center console has a traction control button, but it doesn't have a circle and a dash on it.

Whatever you do, don't push it while the motor is running.

Could that be the ejection seat button?

It's right next to the Traction control button.

Are you talking about the "airbag off" light?

No, it doesn't look like that. It's a little bigger and there is anything about the airbag written there. I'll try and get a picture of it.

Thanks

Sounds like it's been added. The circle with a dash is a generic symbol for an off/on switch. You'll have to follow the wires to see what it goes to, unless something comes on when you push it. Nitrous?

Does it look like an aftermarket add-in to the console? Is it actually an on-off push button or a rocker-type switch?

It looks like factory not added on. It is a round rocker switch.
Thanks

Lots of us use this location for various modifications that require switches. That location is where I placed two switches for seat heaters.
The easy way to check if it is a mod is to pop the panel off - it takes only slight upward pressure and look from below. IF the switch is drilled through other components in that location, it is definitely an add on.
