well, guys are quick to put on C6 wheels in the name of "upgrades"?......I just don't get the whole idea of being something your not. That's just my 2 cents and actually I am Canadian so I think I owe you some change!!!!!!!
I love my C6 Z06 wheels. I'm not trying to be something I'm not. I think you miss the point. For me it was just a set of wheels I like the look of. No different than if I'd found something aftermarket that I liked. To suggest otherwise is a little misguided. I'm under no dilutions that someone will think it's a C6 or a Z06. And I'm not trying to appear as such. I love my C5 for what it is. Just happen to like the spider wheels.
Most won't even really notice why it's catching their eye at first unless they've owned that particular generation
You live in a different world than I live in, the Vette owners I know (and I know a lot) would be laughing their Azzes off. The folks I know have owned almost every generation.

Yup, I must live in a different world than you. In the world I live, most other owners of the same car are respectful adults.
It is interesting when someone asks for opinions, then gets all hot when someone gives a strongly worded opinion.
I saw Corvette badges on a pickup truck. My impression was not positive.
Badges from one car generally do not look 'right' on a different car, no mater how cool the badge. I wouldn't do it.
I wandered over here to the C5 forum because my previous car was a C5, and sometimes I look to see who is still around. Saw this thread. I don't know if this helps, but I like the C5 badge better than the C6, but I wouldn't put the C5 badge on my C6. I do however still have my C5 hat. If you find the C7 stingray cool, maybe consider getting a hat or shirt with it, or put one on your dash where you can see it. And then, it's your car. Put what you want on it.

Nice wheels. It seems that wheels don't raise a lot of eyebrows. Badging seems different for some reason. Perhaps it is tied to a time long ago when Chevy put different badges on the sides of the front fenders to indicate the motor in the car. The wide V was a 283, flags a 327, and so on. Anyone faking the larger engine was going to be laughed out of town.
yet when someone posts a thread about their new Chinese knock off wheels you get 30 responses telling them how great they look, and what a good job they did.
Based on the responses I thought the badges said C6 or C7 on them, but they DONT !!!!
They are just upgrading an old ugly corvette badge for a newer up to date one, there is NOTHING wrong with that.
If you are putting Z06 badges on your FRC, or AMG badges on your base sedan , then you are an idiot, but swapping your old badge for an updated one is perfectly fine as long as your not trying to deceive anyone.

You do realize the badges are generation specific, do you not?!

Big deal , so are the wheels, if you are going to play this game do not be a hypocrite and go bash anyone who is running C6 or C7 wheels on their car as well.
if I had the know how and extra money id upgrade a whole bunch of parts from the newer models.
Steering wheels, seats, shifter, stereo etc....
Yes maybe the badges too if it matched the theme of my car
there is no misrepresentation in using newer badges , none at all

I think they look good on the C5. The C5 body style is my preference, but, the newer emblem gives it a more aggressive look. I like my C5 emblems, though I don't like it on the rear lid. I was actually thinking of removing it and putting it on the rear bumper. The rear brake ducts look sharp on the C5, I'd use the fakes just for the aesthetics, at least until I'm able to modify my coupe and put the real ones on.Now, my wife's a purist, I was considering the fixed headlights ( more for function than styling) , her attitude is if they don't pop up, it's not a Vette. I like to sleep peacefully, (and get layed occasionally) . The pop ups stay. She wouldn't even eyeball the fake scoops when I was measuring to fit them. But, she accepted it when I told her they will eventually be replaced with the real thing.

Hmmm, so your wife believes the C1, C6, and C7 cars are not Vettes? What about non-Vettes with pop-ups, like my '89 Trans Am for example? I love the car, but would never dream of calling it a Vette!
On the other hand, if she's anything like many wives I've heard about, it's an argument you'd never win! Good luck!
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
