This might be sacrilege to some people, but i'm just curious if anybody has done it and how it looks? I'm not sure if it would flow well with our cars since the C5 is so round compare to a C7. Just curious though. I'm needing new badges for my car and have been contemplating it because i like the way they look.
No! You are right, it's sacrilege, and tacky.
C5 emblem is better looking anyway.
Question... Would anyone hesitate to change the logo on a C10 to a Silverado?
I took C3500 logos off and put Silverado letters on my slammed dually. Looked great.
I was not pretending it was a Silverado. It was... it was just an emblem that looked better.
I do not think anyone would be pretending or hoping people thought they had a C7 cause of a stupid badge.
Its a Corvette logo on a Corvette. Better then putting a Corvette logo on an S10 cause its got an LS1
I would be to afraid some corvette freak would key my car cause I had the wrong badge on it.
I really want to put Z06 badges on my coupe when it is done cause it will be better then a Z06.
No one would care if I took a Z06 and cut the roof off to make it a coupe. But if I replace everything on
a coupe to make it a Z06 they would freak out and key my car at some corvette event.
Some guys take these Corvettes way to far. Its a car and a C5 is a relatively cheap car.
I have to disagree with the false badging statements. If he was putting 50th anniversary badges or z06 badges on a base car then I would agree its posing but he is putting corvette flags on a corvette. No big deal.
Go ahead and do it. I see some people put Z06 badges on their coupes and convertibles. Have even seen some attempt to sell them as a Z06.
If you do decide to do this, here are the upsides and downsides:
UPSIDES
1. You enjoy showing the uninformed your new Stringray. They will probably not know the difference and they will be wowed that you can afford a 60K car.
2. You like the feeling you get when being considered a POZER!! You are a loner and like being left alone when in a group of car enthusiast.
3. You like the fact that you see car enthusiast huddle together, whisper, point and snicker. You enjoy that attention you and your ride get from your peers.
DOWNSIDES
1. You will never be taking seriously by any group of car or Vette enthusiasts.
2. The whsipering and snickering you hear are not going to be flattering. I do not suggest you attempt to eazedrop on the conversation, will not help your self-esteem.
3. When you see people gathering around a car to talk and you attempt to join the conversation, people will disperse faster than if you had not bathed in a week.
4. You will be black-balled when you attempt to join a local Corvette club.
5. You and a donkey will have more in common than ever.

Lol everybody gets so uptight on here about little ****. I'm not new to Corvettes, but I have stayed away from them for the simple fact that majority of the owners have been ****** that are narrow minded. Thats why i stayed with Fbodys for so long. Its not like i was badging it with the Stingray emblems and trying to pass it off as a C7 because its not. The flag design just interests me. Everybody on this forum needs to just take a damn breath and relax because I have seen some horribly gaudy stuff done to Corvettes that pass for normal to the older generation.
The simple truth of the mater is that only 5-7% of Corvette owners
ever modify their cars in any way shape or form.
The over whelming majority of Corvettes are simply bought and driven
as they are presented from the factory.
Most Corvette owners don't even know what the designation C5/C6/C7
even is. I talk to customers every single day and when I ask them "
is your car a C-whatever" Without fail they answer "What's that mean"
If you are worried about the 5% who would notice, then don't do it.
If you would care less if 95% of the people that would look at it
and never know there was anything different about it - Then rock on
Regards
Chip

To me the corvette flags symbolize the corvette in general, not a specific model like the zr1, z06, or stingray... I have received countless compliments from "corvette enthusiasts" about how the newer badges are cleaner and more aggressive looking. If I wanted to be dull and simple minded I would have purchased a prius. Im sure we can all appreciate your bad attempt to humiliate fellow corvette owners/fans.
I like the simple look of the newer emblems, it looks good with the clean c5 lines, as it does in the posted pictures.
I wouldn't know the difference between emblem years, or care. As a matter of fact, it took me a good while to notice the emblem on my trunk lid had been removed. I like it gone, but some of the hard *** replies here have me wondering if I have now become an outcast, someone to be shunned, who doesn't give a whatever for the Corvette tradition etc. ( I don't, think they were show boats until the c5.)
I once ran a Citroen ID 19 around town, A french car with a very unique Italian aero body design, inspired by a wood duck, for those unfamiliar with the machine. I ran chrome letters across the back , F O R D , just so people who were curious would have an answer, and others would get a smile.
I always like ownership imagination in cars, the little distinctive touches that make a car your own, something that people who are not you perhaps wouldn't have thought of. I am still looking for that small something to apply to my car, at least until I get an LS3 for it.
The conformity among corvette owners, for me, really kills corvette shows for entertainment value . I always go, being that I have deep personal issues, and it always looks like a used car lot , Supercharger Sam's used car lot, but still , a used car dealership.

There's a C4 in my area that has a C5 emblem covering the hood.
To the unknowing, I guess it's just a Vette emblem. To those of us who know the generations, it's ..............

My post was meant to be taken tongue in cheek in reality.

I agree with this statement. This post has got a lot of attention today and i'm not sure if I ever updated it, but I put the C7 badges on my car like a couple of days after i made this post. I think it looks great and so do most people. The one bit of negative feedback is from a couple of older C6 owners in my area that are "diehard" corvette fans with their supercharged C6's, but they don't even do the speed limit around town. They also like to hate on me for taking my corvette out and beating on it every chance i get. Guess Corvettes were designed to look at and not race...

Its your car to with as you please.
The new emblem is the sharpest looking yet.
Why isn't there this much flack when someone puts c6 or c7 wheels on a c5? It's just a corvette emblem....
No kidding.... isnt that more wrong then an emblem. Are they not just changing the wheels to make people think they have a c6 and to feel better about not being able to afford a c6?
And what about brakes? Are these guys changing the brakes cause they cannot afford a C6 and want to trick people into thinking they have a C6?
Its a stupid logo... why Corvette owners care so much is beyond me.
160 posts over an emblem. Guess they must truly hate me because I have c6 z06 wheels on my car. Kinda feel amish. Hope I don't get shunned by the community.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
