Default C7 vs C5

I just put on my first 1000 miles on a new z51. The car is great but I still miss my old C5. The things I didn't like on the C5 were the pop-up headlights. Fix probably under $1000. More power .Fix supercharger $10000. GPS and XM radio fix around $1000. Now I would have a car around $35000, half the price of the C7. We traveled across the US twice and the luggage room was 50% bigger. I don't know if the insurance would cover a 35000 C5 if stolen or in an accident. The new car is also very tecnical. Its going to take a year to understand all the electronics. What I'm trying to say is I'm split between a fixed up C5 or my C7. Just trying to help anyone who is on the fence.

We'd better swap. Mine already has the GPS/Nav installed and the extra horsepower will just get you into trouble. Give me a grand to boot and I'll call it an even trade.

My C5 is completely upgraded ... power, electronics, interior, exterior, suspension, drivetrain, and it's exactly what I want or will ever need.

My Corvette needs are met for now. I would hate to buy a new C7 and start at the bottom again.

I love my c5 (third one), but I'd drop it like a piece of plutonium for a C7!

C7 is a gorgeous car, but to me the lines of a C5 Z06 simply cannot be beat... absolutely beautiful car.

The new car is also very technical. Its going to take a year to understand all the electronics.

The thing I like the least on the new C7.

After the demo laps at last years c7 I loved the car, looks, performance, comfort, but just like the c6 the c7 has the "Malibu" center dash look. It also feels like your sitting on the car, if that makes sense.

My c5 feels like I'm wearing the car as an extension.

My neighbor has the grey c7 and with the mods on my car it sounds better, and has more rwhp!!!

Don't get me wrong I would love to have the c7, yellow, but am Super happy with my C5

I mean anyone can buy a new car and show up and everyone compliment them, but how many people can turn heads with a 13 year old car??? US!!!

Gimme gimme your old beat up C7, lol. I love my C5 (it sits for most of its life in my garage and is paid for...could not imagine $70 grand relaxing in my garage. lol. As of yet have not see a C7 in person so cannot comment on the lines/looks.

Couldn't agree more. A fun car isn't fun to me if I have to make payments every month, including the 6 months a year it sits in the garage. I love the C7 but I have more fun with my like new, low mileage, no payment C5.

Also, Haggerty will insure agreed value on these cars. I have it on my 2000. If you wanted a fully dressed C5 valued at $35k they will do it. I had my very custom 67 Mustang valued at $33k with them no questions asked. Can't beat the rates either.

I think BOTH can be great cars.
I've done all the upgrades you mention(except the headlites) to my C5, and you're right, it's a heck of a car with lots of power.

Good luck with your new C7.
Don

Wouldn't trade my C5 for one ... especially not to have to make $ 800 - 900 month payments !! C5's has enough electronic 'stuff' to go wrong and get expensive ... just think what a C7 will be like after warranty is out !

That's why when the C7 comes home, it will be a Z06. There isn't anything to upgrade really. If it doesn't fit my needs, then my needs may need adjusting because the C7Z is it.

Agree 100% (for now haha)

You see I know myself well and know EXACTLY how much HP is enough for me...

My sentiments exactly, will have to be a C7Z., base doesn't seem that attractive.

I have a white 97 w/ black interior. In Nov I sat in the same car just 17 years newer! Wow, I want a '14! Then a '79, then a '63 split window... I just woke up. Sorry....

Must be something wrong with my eyes because I look at the C7 as a step down from a C5 in looks. The C7 might have the technology that some people are looking for but all of those electronic marvels that impress people today will be tomorrows nightmare. There are more electronic parts in my C5 than I would prefer but very limited compared to the new Corvettes. But bottom line is that the C5 has it all over the C7 in the looks department.

I tend to agree, C7 seems a bit gaudy but the C7Z a different beast.
