Why are you commenting to me???? MY post was directed at the OP of this thread.. I could care less what you think . My point is that there are cars with no issues out there, so why buy a cheap ( compared to the standard cost of a car in good shape ) car with issues... you don't feel like taking it out?? Its one flip connector and five screws? You don't feel like taking it out, ??? are you lazy? You don't take care of your car.... if something is broken, it gets fixed, at least those of us who do take care of our car, fix it. that's what the guys here who take care of their car do.... this car in question was not taken care of by its owner. maybe he was to lazy too. But I would not want my son to buy a car with issues and who's owner was too lazy with its care. 160 dollars scares most people off? I spend that at a bed and breakfast over the weekend.. You see this forum has degraded to people looking for cheap everything. People who think putting 160 dollars in their car is scary, is sad. next time you try to tell me something about a C5, Don't ! You are not qualified. I'm offering my experience and educated advice to the OP of this thread, He can take it or leave it.
Uh why can't I comment to you you posted on a public forum..and sorry I take EXTREMELY good care of my car, the PREVIOUS owners took extremely good care of my car, it's in excellent condition and it has the C1214 code..so that right there goes against your logic..How do you know the car he's looking at wasn't taken care of by the seller because the "service traction control" light comes on? Haha and my problem is intermittent and just because I don't want to take the ebcm out and ship it and pay to get fixed RIGHT NOW doesn't mean "I'm lazy" or I don't take care of it! Who are you to tell ME when and what I should fix on MY car? I never said $160 scares most people I said what The DEALERSHIPS charge and obviously if you're telling the guy to shy away from a car about $4k below retail because it has a "service traction control" code you don't seem very "educated" about C5's to me...

Just before I removed and sent out my EBCM to ABS Fixer, I experienced an incident that convinced me to get that thing fixed, ASAP. I was on my way to work on a somewhat damp morning, when I turned 90 degrees left to get onto the entry ramp to the freeway. Instead of turning 90 degrees, my C5 turned 180 degrees and I found myself looking over a very steep embankment that ended perpendicular to the highway. Had the EBCM been functioning, this would've never happened.
Moral of the story: Don't wait to get that EBCM fixed. My procedure to remove it can be found here: http://www.conceptualpolymer.com/Ele...l%20Module.pdf
Evil, my goal is to one day get a camera like the one you used to take that photo of your car. Of course, my other goal is to retire so I can have time enough to make my cars look as shiny as your C5!

Evil Twin , Calm down. You used to be a calm and collected guy but now you seem to have a beef with everybody. If you are on the rag I understand but man I hope you go back to yourself soon.

Me thinks if ET doesn't learn to play nice somebody will look him up and straighten his *** out. There are a lot more real experts on this forum to listen to,who are actually good at helping other members out . I guess like a lot of other members have done , he may have to go on ignore list

TO THE OP: regardless of what you decide on this particular car, several posters have given some very valuable advice, namely "learn how to read codes from the DIC".
The next one you look at may appear immaculate and well-cared for, without the CEL or other telltales on, but a code search might tell you otherwise...
Last week was extremely busy and I had to catch up on this thread today.
Just wanted to thank you all for your input, and yes the reading codes from the DIC is awesome. Every vehicle should have that feature!
This particular Corvette was sold over the holiday weekend before I could get down there myself.
I have a '99 C5 Coupe and those codes turned out to be 'GROUNDS' .... played around with the grounds out under the hood and all is well with the world.
Check out the 'pastys' (posts at the top of the forum).
Autozone might be willing to clear the codes after reading them for you "FOR FREE".

Thanks again, and the hunt continues!
