Low is sometimes too low
Yesterday I was driving the Corvette to our first cruise and there was a dead ground hog in the middle of my lane on a two lane road and there was no time to avoid it because there was an oncoming car in the other lane so all I heard was something that sounded like thunder going from the front to the back under the car. My car is stock height and still bottomed out on that ground hog. Any of my other vehicles would have just passed right over it. Lucky it was only a ground hog and not a car muffler or larger item laying on the road. Would have really torn up the whole bottom and front air dam. Should make you guys with lowered cars do some thinking.

I've came across a similar situation. Luckily didn't damage the car but definitely a tense moment. Even at stock height, it's a chance you take with a car that sits so low.

Safety Car
Went over an already dead dog once in a bagged truck. That was a mess and almost made me lose my lunch.

Brakes!
If they don't do good enough then time for a Big Brake Upgrade!
Either way, we're glad okay and yes it could of been worse, just glad it wasn't!
I had a similar experience in my work truck but it was with a skunk and I flat ran it over and the stink gland got stuck in my fender well and we had to remove it - Boy did it stink!
Thanks,Matt

Melting Slicks
This incident and stone chips are two of the reasons I try to give extra room to the vehicle in front of me; instead of tailgating like I sometime catch myself doing in the daily driver.

Anyway, not trying to convince you to lower yours, but 1" or 2" inches is marginal at best..... The fact is our cars are LOW, just no getting around it & if you are not always on the look out, you can do some damage.

That's my worst fear with this car especially since these cars sit low and have a low hood. Those recap tires should be outlawed on the big trucks that run the interstates. If one of those recaps come through your windshield you will be lucky to come out with injuries and not be killed. Some of them probably weigh at least 100 pounds and traveling at speeds averaging 80mph coming through your windshield is sure disaster. I never follow them when I'm on the Harley. If there is no place to pass then I will stop for a coffee and let him get ahead. I've actually seen them come off on the interstate and they are missiles.

bj1k good to hear it did not do major damage. Unfortunately lowering on our cars really may not make that much of a difference. I understand you like you car stock from what I can see if your posts. My car is lowered on the stock bolts. I am lower than you by aprrox 2" is my guess, that is unless you raised yours to the max on the bolts. To my understanding all our cars might have come from the factory at different heights, NOT major differences, but definitely not all the same either. I remember Toque posting a pic of his Z06 which was extremely high from the factory. In mine, the dealer left the plastic transport pads on my shocks , my car is a 50th & has the magnetic ride suspension. So mine was high & a very harsh ride until I finally diagnosed why.
Anyway, not trying to convince you to lower yours, but 1" or 2" inches is marginal at best..... The fact is our cars are LOW, just no getting around it & if you are not always on the look out, you can do some damage.

The car does look worlds better than stock, even though its fender gaps still look too tall compared to many newer car's fender gaps.

I love the lowered look but with a daily driver, I already scrape the splitter all the time. I actually think I may sit higher than most because my Nitto 555's look a little higher profile than the run flats.
