Default Borla Stinger Review

So after ALOT of consideration I picked up a set of Borla Stinger Quad Oval tip exhaust. I have a Z06 with Kooks long tubes and off road X through the stock Ti and was worried about it being too loud and the reported drone. I have to say is that I am mad I waited this long. Performance is negligible maybe a few more HP with the Borla but the sound is incredible and I have yet to experience ANY substantial drone. Yes its louder than the Tis by quite a bit but it sounds so mean. Plus the high polish tips add some nice bling that the Tis were lacking I would recommend this to anyone. Don't fear the "drone"

really glad you posted this as LT's are my next mod and I hear so much negativity about how loud it is, but I am young and like loud!

Come to one of the GTG's and listen to the GHL Bullets many of us have on our cars first.

Which Stinger version did you buy? Version 1 (original design) have the round straight-through canisters. The redesigned Stinger v.2, oval cans, have the inlet/outlet ports on the same side. These v.2's are less prone to the drone effect according to Borla.

I have also heard the straight pipe (no mufflers) also called stingers.

I have the round straight through canister style and like them. A little loud, but it sounds good to me. I like the polished tips too. Some of the best looking I have found.

More info (or part numbers) would help to know which system you are reviewing.

I am very satisfied with mine. Now my Corvette sounds like a Corvette should.

I swapped out my Borla Quad Tip Stingers for Ti's and while I like the sound & weight savings of the Ti's, I do miss the Borla's aggressive sound, especially when accelerating. I kept the Borla's & may eventually put them back on one day.

I got rid of my Borlas for TIs then changed them for 3" XS Power which are real quiet when you want them to be and sound off at WO throttle, also O drone.I have a vert. so the Borla drone was terrible.

There is a good drone at 60-65 MPH at 1400-1600 RPMs however where I live and the roads im on I am never at that. Ever at 67 mph there is a 50% reduction in drone from 65 mph. Crusing at 70 at 1800 RM is fine and anything over that even better.

My Borla's do not emit any so called drone. When I listen to the sound of my exhaust I only hear a concerto in V8.

Most "bullet" type mufflers drone at around 70 my magnaflow magnapack has a slight drone I think GHL is one of the few bullets that don't drone.

Sirk17,

I have the Borla Stinger Dual Round tip exhaust, and I couldn't agree
with you more. The sound is incredible!

What may not seem like drone to you would be excessive to other people. Some people think c5's are fast some people think they are slow. It's all relative but I love the way they sound I don't have them but have heard them.
