Just purchased a Vette this past Saturday, so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question.
My friend recommended that I lower it on the stock bolts to increase the stance. I have already had it scrape a couple of times, even coming in and out of my driveway which makes me cringe.
If you lower it, do you not worry about it scraping even more? Any way to prevent that or protect it besides driving really slow on any bumps or ramps?
Lowered on stock bolts, ride quality doesn't seem to be any different but my car has Z51 suspension. Just remember that the front should be 3/4" lower than the back to keep the stock rake for down force on the front end.

The scrape you get is from the front air dams. There are 3 pieces, one on each side and one in the middle. The middle one is the important one as it directs air flow up through the radiator. They are flexible because the "scrape" is inevitable, especially exiting driveways. Yes, lowering will make it worse but you just have to be more careful.

Yep, it'll scrape more. If you want the look without the loss of ground clearance, fender gap can be reduced with a slight lower on the stock bolts in combination with taller tires. My car had 255/40-18F|295/35-19R when I bought it and it looks pretty good with it's slight drop, although my new tires are a half-inch shorter and I will be dropping it more when they go on.
Hey, Toque, I don't know if you know Yuma Z06 from the other forum, but he parked his untouched (suspension-wise) 2004 Z06 on factory-sized rubber next to my 2003 Z06 on 255/40-18F|295/35-19R (about +1/2"F and +1"R) and my car was STILL an inch lower than his, but my rubber doesn't touch fender or even come close and my suspension bolts look untouched. I say this because he assumed that a prior owner lowered my car, but having seen your car before you slammed it on factory bolts, it looks like either 1) the 04s ride slightly higher or 2) dealers weren't cranking them down from the shipping settings during prep, because that is a TON of fender gap (he is also the original owner, for reference).
From: Wylie TX --> Less is More, except under the hood !

Yea... I honestly believe that the dealer did not "prep" my car as they should have.
It was still set super high to get on the shipping trucks for delivery.
