The seller is thinking about it after I offered 20k. I noticed the harmonic balancer wobbles slightly. The owner believes it's normal and has always been that way. I think not. I did some research and it looks like it's a 500-800 repair. Not too bad.

I have seen brand new LS1/LS6 engines with a slight wobble in the harmonic balancer. It probably has been that way since new if the car only has 25K miles.

Bought my 02' Torch Red Z06 with 56k miles for $16,200.. It had the "falling" HUD problem that I fixed, as well as the passenger side Air Check Valve that was throwing a CEL. Other than those two issues it is cherry inside and out. I think I got a pretty good deal!

That is a heck of a deal if it had a clean car fax (no wrecks).

you did

that's cheap, bout 2k under a common good price and 3-4k under low-avg retail

especially for red, which is probably the 2nd most desired color after electron blue. red and black always close similar

silver and yellow are the ones that tend to close on the low side

Owner was asking $18,500.. Talked for a while and bonded a bit. Settled at $16,500 which I thought was fantastic, then owner said.. I'm in a good mood today, and I like you, so let's do $16,200.

In May I got an '02 electron blue with 25K miles for $19K down in Houston. Private Party, stock car.

Dealer would have wanted around $23K probably...if you are dealing with a private party cash talks, these aren't expensive cars anymore by today's standards but it also can't be easy to get a loan on a 18 year old car, so sellers have to wait for someone with the cash ... use that in your favor.

This is a five year old thread. NADA is usually accurate and based on actual sales not the dreams of current owners, dealers and sellers. With the low mileage the books says $18k. Many insurance companies and banks use this book to determine actual cash value for both losses and financing. Supply is higher than demand even for the precious Z06 at this time. The price will drop soon when the C8 is released and older models become readily available increasing supply.
