I understand that all C5s are water proof.

It will melt the finish off if you let it see rain.

The underbody will rust.

Worst of all, the fiberglass will come apart since it is held together by non water resistent glue!

Most people do not let their Vettes see rain, not due to the water, but the dirt, mud, road film, road oil, and debris the road causes when it is wet. Brake rotors will rust if exposed to rain that is not dried off.

BTW Beautiful low mileage car. You guys that find these under 8K miles, make me sick !

What you are saying is completely understandable when it comes to keeping up the shine and avoiding under-carriage grime.

However, if you are "missing out" on some cool car shows and events simply due to rain, then I'd say that's a bit much.

The last "car show" I attended started off with light drizzle but was one of the best events I attended. Ok, so I didn't have my Vette out there in the rain, but I sure was standing off at the sidelines wishing I did. The "Car Show" parade lasted just about 45 minutes itself and that led into and opened up the day's events. What started as a shrug on going to teh show wound up being an 8-hour all day event that was well worth it.

It was awesome, and I wish I was part of it rain or shine!!

That's only to knock the water off the windshield when you wash it. They will not work with rain water!

I don't make a habit of getting mine out on rainy days, but it is simply unavoidable to never get into a rain shower unless you do not drive it all in the Southeast. Summer showers spring up out of nowhere all of the time. I always grit my teeth, cuz I know I am going to have a thorough cleaning to do afterwards.

Don't forget the paint on every C5 is a water based paint, Get a C5 caught in the rain and it will run like the mascara of Tammy Fay Baker's face

Big car club, many nice Corvettes (new and old), chance to pose them in front of the USS New Jersey. Dreary morning with a little rain - only two Corvettes show up: our 2003 and a 1956. No comment.

It's new to you, and understandable feelings you have.

Try to think of this. Truth: did you know that the very best time to go to the zoo to see animals, is on a rainy day. The crowds have stayed home, and the animals love the cool air, and do NOT fear the rain.

I rode horses from age four on. Raced them from age 7. A fast stallion loves the rain, and what they call a 'soft track'.
Envision your C5 as a big powerful animal, you need to take it out on the road and 'let it stretch it self' from time to time. And if it rains, It won't mind, at all.

Then, as with a horse you love, you give it a gentle but thorough 'rub down' after a hard ride. For me, this rub down is with Chadwicks and a ample supply of microfibers I always have with me, in the well in the back of the car. Takes 20 minutes to clean the entire car.

I've driven all my Corvettes on long trips. Been caught in snow on top of Rocky Mountain Natl Park in Colorado, and in snow on top of Dun Raven Pass in Yellowstone. Caught in a hail storm near Mt Rushmore. And been in countless rains, and other bad weather. Just be careful, and give your steed a good 'rub down' after. He/she'll love you for it afterwards.

Don't leave it home in the garage (all the time), just because the skies aren't perfect. These cars are too much fun to drive!!! And Corvette rocks on long road trips through National Parks, and thru the mountains. Plan trips, and go.

Don

It's a beautiful car and it's obvious that its been well taken car of ................ but it's a shame that you don't get to enjoy it very often.

Did you know that you can drive the car every day of the week year round .... IF ..... two or three time a year you can devote an entire weekend to hand cleaning the car top to bottom.

I've put 100K on my 95. Check out my garage. It still looks "purty" nice

Believe me the car will clean up beautifully. It does take some elbow grease but its worth it to get to drive a vette every day.

KKB doesn't have a "driven in the rain" option yet.

I was told that if a Corvette gets wet it shrinks into a "Chevette"

My car is sitting in the garage right now and it's filthy, I just don't have the extra time to clean it, it's got a so many coats of wax on it that she's fine.

IT'S A CAR

Drive the crap out of it and enjoy her

Drive it at least once in the rain. Get it out of your system that it can't be driven when it's likely to rain. Once you're over that hurdle, you'll feel much better like I did with mine.
