Good luck man can't wait to see how it turns out. I'm still waiting on my fenders to come in then I will be in the market for 12" rears myself. Hey, you might be changing wheels again by that time let me know if you wanna sell me some more
Haha, I'll let you know! I've had too many sets of wheels on this car so who knows, may have another by then.

I had 275s on the 11s you're running so it should be a similar look. There will be no shortage of pictures when complete

I also have 235-40-18 on the front.

Really doesn't bother me what people think. Do what you want.
Thank you. That thread is actually very helpful as I am a little worried about clearance inside the fender. It looked very close in there and I hope I don't rub the inner liners.

Your car, your money and you can do what you like. Not something that I would ever consider doing to my car, but hope it works out well for you and you don't have any problems down the road.

I don't know why people do this these days, looks terrible and kills the ride. The point of having a fast car is being able to drive it fast and hard, can't do that with those silly looking wheel/tire setups. So happy i missed this fad

Why couldn't you drive it "fast and hard" with this wheel and tire setup?

Yeah… I figure knowing you and how you change wheels as much as most people change their oil i'll give ya 3 months and then you'll be itching for a new set of something different anyway

I have had the carbon fenders on order from pete for quite a while but still considering mini tubbing the car instead possibly but either way I am going with 12" rears one way or the other just haven't made up mine was to what offset to commit to yet. Shoot you might even want to make a trade for your CCW's back LOL

Can't wait for the pictures!

I'm talking about the people who have their tires severely stretch for that stance look, where the wheel is nearly touching the pavement as appose to the tire, would you want to be in a car like that around the track??

C5 vette owners doing crazy s@%t like this (JMHO) is what made me seriously consider spending a little more & getting a C6, even though I much prefer the overall appearance of the C5s. I don't think there's any arguing that the older a car becomes the more affordable they are to those that like to do the extreme cosmetic modifications, which to me seems to cheapen EVERY car of the same era, modified or not. Of the cruise-ins & shows that I've attended I see way more C5s with various cosmetic mods than I have C6s. And around here in the Birmingham area I've yet to see a C7 that still didn't look anything but bone stock.

I guess it just all boils down to my overwhelming preference for the pristine, bone stock look.

What does that 350z have to do with my car?

I am not planning an "extreme" stretch here, it's just a 305 on a 12" wheel.

Funny, one of the first results i got when searching for how the tire would fit the wheel was a 911 at full tilt on a track.

Go buy one then. What is stopping you? Enjoy the company of the Dragon Corvette since you are worried about what other owners are doing and how it might reflect upon you.

I did buy one. Check it out. And I have little doubt that my bone stock C5 with only 6800 miles on the clock is worth more than that freak show C6 you call a "Dragon". Cute name....LOL
Good grief...they couldn't even get the "D R A G O N" letters on the nose straight. Great job!!!

Your car is going to look more like the Dragon Corvette than BamaJ's. LOL

Nobody said C5 Corvettes look better stock. There is a matter of taste.. it's subjective.. but it's pretty clear the OP's taste is not in line with the majority. Some might classify it as poor taste for that reason.

Yes, I agree that there are many things added, changed and painted on cars that look ridiculous to some. But none of what you mention puts anyone's life in danger. Tire stretching is extremely unsafe and not only puts the driver's/ passenger's life in danger but everyone else around sharing the same roads. It is a ridiculous and dangerous trend similar to donks and extreme slamming. It is good to be different but when it renders your vehicle dangerous, all bets are off. Just my two cents.

It did rub the inner liner slightly without spacers. Car was lowered at the time. I raised it back up when I put the 325 on. Still used 5/16 spacers.

Then go buy a C6 and knock off the "holier than thou" attitude. Until you're paying for my gas and car insurance you have absolutely ZERO to say about what I, or anyone else, does to their car.

Just to get on your nerves....

Here's some GS stripes. This should give you a nervous tick:

And OMG!! Look at what I dared to do to my engine compartment!!!

Don't have a heart attack now....

And yes, the red calipers are no more.

I even dared to blaspheme against the piece of crap standard seats and stock floor mats. I guess I'm going to Corvette hell now.

I get sick of people like you who think they have the right to dictate what others do. You worry about your car, I'll worry about mine, as will everyone else here.

I'll even make you a deal. Send me a cashier's check for $10,000 and I will go out and tear off every aftermarket mod I've put on my car. This way it won't reflect poorly on yours, despite yours being 1000+ miles away from mine.

I'm not a fan of the OP's tire choice, but unlike you, I realize that IT IS HIS F**KING CAR TO DO WITH AS HE PLEASES. It's not my place to tell him what he should do to his car so it doesn't make mine look bad, which is the dumbest f**king thing I've ever heard.

Have a nice day now.

I never said I agreed with the OP's taste going with this setup. All I said was I give him props for thinking outside the box with something different. If he needs to run this setup in order to make the wheels fit without flares then let him do so. I prefer big meaty tires and big lip wheels. I can't expect everyone to like the same thing I do so if this works out for him then more power to him.
