I'm fond of Corvettes and have owned eight of them over a period of about 35 years. I have had a lot of other Chevy's and GM products that I was less impressed with like a Vega GT, a Fiero and a bunch of GM clunkers with motor problems. I've also owned my share of Ford and Chrysler stuff, over 150 vehicles in total.
Although I don't need one, I usually have a pick up truck in my fleet. In the last seven years I went truck shopping three times and came home with a Ram Hemi. I've never had a Chrysler motor on my engine stand and I can't say that about Ford and GM.
Should a loyal Corvette owner be driving a GMC truck?
I have a GMC truck but it's because I love the 99-06 style GM trucks.
Overall, brand loyalty is silly. The consumer should buy what they feel to be the best product offered. If you buy an inferior product, that you know is inferior, because you are "Brand Loyal" then you are stupid.

My wife loves the chrysler 300 and is now on her 4th one. As for me,
I have been a loyal chevrolet guy since my dad gave his 1955
chevrolet pickup when i turned 16, A year later I got a used
1962 chevrolet impala ss with the 283 auto transmission.
Call me stupid but nothing but chevy products for me ever since.
GMC is the same damn company (and a better built truck than the Chevy, true story). I used to own a 2000 F@rd F350 with a 7.3 diesel, loved the motor, hated the truck. It was one of the best diesel motors produced (made by International, so it makes sense).
I'm far from "brand loyal" but there hasn't been a F@rd that get me motivated short of the GT40.
I buy the best bang for my buck that fits my needs. My '92 Silverado is a great truck, as was all my other Chevy trucks.
I've always bled Ford blue, but the Corvette has always been my favorite car. It's weird, though I will have another SVT product joining it in the garage soon.
Ford guy, yes, but my daily driver is a 1995 Silverado. Indestructible truck. So, I guess brand loyalty really means nothing to me.
I'm not necessarily brand loyal, but I've only been attracted to GM body styles. I am not too impressed with GMs products as of late. Lots of problems. I may find myself in another brand for newer vehicles. But I look at the corvette as a different animal altogether. I'm definitely vette loyal. Maybe will stay away from GM in the future though.
My grandfather worked for GM.
My uncle worked for GM.
My dad worked for GM.
My father-in-law worked for GM.
I myself work for GM.
I have not and never will buy a car (new OR used) that is not a GM product...
Cars I have has since I was 17:
1980 Chevy Monza
1988 Pontiac Fiero
1990 Chevy Camaro
1991 Chevy Cavalier
1996 Pontiac Grand Prix
1991 Pontiac Grand Prix
2002 Pontiac Sunfire
2007 Pontiac G6
2007 Pontiac Grand Prix
and now resting comfortably in my garage...2003 Chevy Corvette
Out of all of these vehicles over 28 years only one (the Pontiac Sunfire) had the engine go out on me. Every other one ran great and was either traded in or was in an accident...
I too have had about 10 new Corvettes in the past 40 years, but not out of any brand loyalty really.
Most of my Corvettes I kept for 3-4 years, but I have driven my 2001 C5 every day for the past 14 years - still looks and runs like new. The C5 was the last "style" that created a "burn" in me - love at first sight!
Hated the C6 and the C7 is OK, but I can live without it - especially at that price! They also started upping the combined options trick that all the new cars are doing, by placing the few options you want in with five other things you don't want by "packaging". To get the C7 that I "might" order would cost me $15k extra and over $10k of that would be wasted money for me on options I would never use and don't want (just more electronic crap to break down). Even on my C5, why did I have to pay for the nuisance of memory seats and memory mirrors to get the other things in that package? All they do is screw up and if I know I am going to be the only driver, what purpose do they serve?
I might have some brand loyalty once they show me some loyalty discounts!
I have always been a Mopar guy from long ago. I own two Dodge Rams one a SRT10 Viper truck, and the other is a Cummins Dually. Best trucks I have ever owned both of them. I likes the SRT10 motor so well that I bought a Viper sports car. Now keep in mind that at that time I also owned a C5Corvette. That Viper was a miserable car when compared to the Corvette head to head. Not in the power department but in the ergonomics of the car. It was way to small inside, no way to get comfortable in that thing, it just did not compare with the C5.
I like my Vettes I have owned 14 over the years starting back in 1967 when I bought a 1961 Corvette on a used car lot. I paid $1,195 dollars for it and it needed just about everything. I still have that old Corvette to this day and money could never buy it.
So brand loyal--Me not really, I like some of the Mopar stuff and will always buy there trucks, but when it comes to a really fun car to drive and to own it is Corvette for me.
Heck, I drive a 2013 F-150, my wife drives a is350 Lexus, I've got a Harley and of course the Vette, no brand loyalty here, just buy what I like.
So if you like that Hemi then that's all that really matters.
I have just a little bit of brand loyalty to GM, largely because my Buick was so dependable. If the Corvette were made by Ford, I'd have bought it. To put it another way, if that retro Thunderbird had come with a manual transmission, better brakes, suspension and steering, I would have been all over it. But it didn't.
My wife has never owned anything but a Volvo. That's brand loyalty.
I've owned many cars in my 65-years and most of them have been GM products. I've also had several MOPAR and Ford products. I currently have a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze LTZ with 10,000 miles on it that I've had nothing but problems with. The oil pan gasket, axle seals, and torque converter gasket have all been replaced within the past year. If I were to go out and buy a new car today, it would be a Ford.
I am most loyal to myself frankly...never to a particular product line or manufacturer. Most of what I've owned has been GM, however several other brands have found a place in my garage over the nearly 50 years I've been driving. It is entirely dependent of what I find appealing and its reputation in the market for reliable service.
My current 2004 Dodge 2500 Diesel truck is easily hands down the most satisfying motor vehicle I've owned...except for special interest cars like the Vette and my old Deuce three window coupe (Chevy powered)...
I do not try to be brand loyal, but it sometimes works out like that.
I drift towards brand loyal because of parts and equipment that I acquire that can be used on additional cars usually of the same brand (or similar like various GM divisions) For example I usually have a few extra sets of wheels/tires that I can use on several cars.
Although I have had mostly GM cars/trucks (60 or 70 of them), I have had Ford and Chrysler products also and currently have a Dodge Charger R/T that we like.
