Let's be honest guys, our cars run fine on 91 octane. Unless you ONLY pump 3/4 of a gallon at a time, you'll be fine.

Do you live in Ashville? After a few minutes of casually looking, I found three (non-HILL BILLY old school) Shell stations, two in Ashville and one in West Ashville, with definitely what appear to be single hose pumps, and that's just the SHELL stations I came across.

This is why I always wait for a corvette to pull away from a pump no matter how many hours it takes. I swoop in on my scooter and fill her up with .8 gallons of 93 at the price of 87. SUCKERS!!!!! I just pocketed .30c, who's the man now b!%$#@#

LOL this thread.

And here's one of absolutely the most commonly used single hose pumps in use by a number of different gas stations around the country. This one is a Shell station:

The nearest Sunoco to me is about 30 miles. BP, SAMS Club, Hess, Ingles Markets, Eblen, Energy Marts and a few Shells is all we have.

Hell... we only have a handful of places that sell ethanol free fuel!!

We only get 91 here. Oh heavens me LOL. but if I was TT theni would want 93 as well, get some octane booster if it really worries you. Or get it tuned on 91 and forget about it.

Do you reside in Ashville itself or out in the suburbs? I've since located at least 6 or 7 stations with what appear to be single hose pumps. You said there were "none" where you live, and if there were, they would be "old school" hill billy stations. Surely Ashville is not hill billy?

I saw a guy filling up his gas can with non corn and he told me he always ran the first gallon or two into his vehicle tank to clear any corn gas left in the hose before he filled his gas can. I am lucky I have an older gas station near by that has totally seperate pumps that only sells non corn gas.

Do you actually live here to prove this to me with hard in your face facts other than internet pics that you THINK you are looking at? I never said that there weren't ANY at all. I was being sarcastic with the HILL BILLY comment. Those pumps you are referring to aren't state of the art pumps PERIOD. I don't use them if I happen to run into one which is very doubtful. They are very FEW and far between!!!

If the OP is that worried about getting a little 87, 89 octane mixed in his 91 or 93 octane I would by pass those ONE ARM BANDIT pumps!!

I mentioned earlier about just having a few pumps with ethanol free gas here where I live. "Hint" "Hint" when I first looked it up online there were a dozen close by only to go there and be disappointed that they weren't ethanol free pumps.

Long story short: Don't believe everything you read, hear or see on the good ole internet!!!!

By the way it's Asheville NOT Ashville!!!

Hey GenerationX1 and Lonestar, just drive to New Hill. It's a tiny burb south of Raleigh that has an ancient gas station. They actually still have separate pumps for each octane like they did in the 50's/60's. Don't know what brand it is, something I've never heard of.

The whole point of the OP's thread was his possible concern regarding octane "mixing". Your advice was to move on (which I would agree with) and stay away from those "one nozzle pumps" which you said you "haven't seen" in years.

You then went on to specifically state "there are none" where you live, and NOW you're saying you never said that. You'd make a great politician.

"None" has now become a "few", even though you now claim you never said that. Great! You're making progress.

The subject of ethanol was brought up by you later after someone (SG Lou) posted a picture of a Sunoco one hose pump, and is totally irrelevant to the OP's concerns regarding octane or the thread generally.

It's good to know that you "promised" there are "none" (your words not mine) has now changed to a "few" even after you said you were "none". Maybe if you haven't "seen" one there "in years", it may be you're not looking.

Oh and btw, show us where I, or anyone else, said the one hose pumps that were pictured by me or SG Lou, were referred to as "state of the art" (again, your words). You can't, because IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. I only said one hose pumps are in wide spread use around the country and are very common, because they are, including some in Asheville, and your choice not to use them (or "see" them) doesn't just make them go away. I DO agree with you about not believing everything you read on the internet. You're a perfect example of why.

Cool! Like most small businesses in small towns, I'll bet they have friendly customer service too. Snap a picture next time you're by there.

I just roll up to one that says 93, jam a debit card in it, fill er' up and keep ripping. Never bothered counting hoses. I also drive it in the rain on drag radials, park in a garage on bare concrete, use a single parking spot at the store, and jack it up without using $500 worth of special equipment. I guess my car is going to blow up or break in half soon.

;-)

I think you're taking an unnecessarily big risk using a debit card at a gas pump.
