Default BSM's

Why were so many C5Z's (and/or all other C5's for that matter) equipped with the BSM's? I know they didn't cost that much but I think it takes away from the look of the car. Do you agree?

On another note, has anyone removed their BSM's and regretted doing so later on down the road?

Got pics? Let's see 'em...

I don't care for them either. My first z had them and I didn't like them at all. My current z doesn't have them. Wouldn't of bought it if it did

I can't stand em. If I had them I wouldn't be paying to have my door repainted though, so they do serve a purpose.

My car had the bsm. I removed them and am very happy with the results. Would never know they were ever there...

I like them, so mine are staying on.

I'd like to remove mine but worried about door dings, I tried to park away from the crowed but twice I had jerk who parked so close I needed to get in from the passenger side and we was the only 2 cars in the area, took up 2 stalls (far away from the crowd) one time and found an ice cream melting on my hood so now I just park any place so mine are staying on

I don't care for them either, but I cant stand door dings. Looking at the BSM on my Z, they have saved a lot of marks on the doors. They definitely work well and earn their keep... I suppose.

Fortunately I was in the first wave of recalls so I didn't have to deal with this issue.

My car didn't come with them but if it did I would have removed them on day 1. So much cleaner without them.

Among other factors like color, price and mileage, when looking for a C5Z this spring, I considered cars without them less than cars with them. Settled on an 03 TR Z with them.

-6* right now so I am saving BSM removal for a warmer day Winter project.

After many sleepless nights I have chosen to trade improved appearance for the reduction in speed and handling.

Don't BSM's get dinged when they are hit by another car door? Does a "ding" on a painted molding look less unsightly than a ding on a door panel? If the BSM's don't ding maybe GM should make the whole car out of the stuff ???

The molding is a lot cheaper to repair and paint than the door.
