I know a few people that throw money away at things they think will bring them pleasure. In the end they realize it was just a waste of money. Face it. How much pleasure can a $4000 set of doors really bring someone? If I knew this guy and he was someone I cared about, I would point out how ridiculous his idea was. He would thank me later. Lambo doors on a C5 is a dumb idea.

Sometimes people get obsessed with something and need a reality check. I am just trying to help the guy out and give him some insight before he spends money he might not have. I would do that for any friend. Encouraging someone to do something he would more than likely regret does no one any good.

a financial adviser would probably advise against buying a corvette in the first place...where not talking financial investments here because a C5 in the first place is not 1...you're making yourself look very foolish here...once again as stated, and try to comprehend, they're all just opinions...

Think about the fact that he's even looking for opinions on them indicates that he does not see them in the same light as you. You then go further into bringing finances into the convo which makes no sense at all. What may be a waste to you, may not be to the next guy and vice versa. As stated earlier in the thread there are many guys who do performance mods to their cars and never go over the speed limit....to me that's a total waste, but that's me. If it makes that guy happy, then that's what matters. If someone came to you and said your C5 is a total waste of money because it does not bring you dividends, what would your response be? Mine would be no its not because my C5 brings me pleasure and that's the return on this (a C5 in this case) investment.

I think the problem was caused when you started referring to your opinion as fact. The OP could be a billionaire thus making a $4000 mod not that expensive. I've seen people waste a lot more money on mods without much purpose. There are a lot of expensive things we can do to our cars that unless you're a die hard C5 person, you wouldn't even notice. But if enough people on here like it, it's acceptable. I'm not a fan of lambo doors. I thought about them a long time ago after first seeing them at a show, but as time went on, I realized it would be a waste for ME to do. But if the OP likes it and wants to do it, great. Why shouldn't he do it? Why shouldn't he spend HIS money how HE wants to? I still see them at shows and they draw a crowd. Generally at shows people like them. If that's what he wants, then go for it. I highly doubt he's going to regret it in a week.
I am really sick and tired of Lambo doors now, so I am done here.

So to the OP. Now that we have gone through pages of opinions, “facts”, semi facts, and mostly BS, your question still remains. Do research about the doors currently available. Check any reviews and commentary from those who actually have installed them. Determine which require mods to the car that cannot or are difficult to reverse. Gauge price for the doors and install or if you plan on installing them yourself what is required and do you have the skills. Then decide which doors YOU want and have it done if you are so inclined. As far as if I like or dislike vertical doors: it has absolutely no bearing on your decision. So good luck and enjoy.
