Default Roller Rockers

Going to be doing a cam install soon and replacing springs, lifters (ls7) and chromoly push rods. Does anybody recommend that I should replace the roller rockers in this process? I am going to be using the England Green Mayhem II cam with the package that Steven offers that comes with the springs and push rods.

Just wondering though if it is worth the extra cost to upgrade or just keep the factory rocker arms on? Also if you to change them do you change the ratio or keep the 1.7 I think what the factory ones are.

Thank you for any help.

Zack

personally I would just keep the stock rockers but make sure to upgrade them with a trunion kit, that will keep the stock bearing cases from breaking and letting needle bearings throughout the inside of your motor... I kept my stock rockers when I did my cam and have seen plenty of guys with expensive and high hp builds and still use stock rockers... I have read about aftermarket rockers causing more problems and failures that they seem to be worth

What problems did you have with your Harland Sharp rockers? I've had mine for about 8 years, and I haven't had any issues.

2 HS rockers broke just after dyno. Went to YT's and one of those cracked. Replaced and had to sell the Z not long after. Contacted the new owner 6 months later and he had no problems and was road racing etc.. typical.. lol... I guess YT's were a better choice between the 2. You can't count the threads on broken HS or YT rockers. I would just use powder metal guides and trunion replaced stockers from now on. Hind sight. I knew of guys that broke rockers but I thought .. Naw it won't happen to me. haha.. Confucius says. Of course it's only some of us. Some never have rocker problems for years or never. Depends. I think TFS heads seem to be more susceptible from the threads I have read. Stocker rocker from now on if need be for me when I get another C5 Z.

Like me... I got my HS for free, from Trickflow, plus a bunch of other stuff. OTOH, I had to replace my brand new heads, when they were found to have defective valve stems. So, nothing's for free.

I too am running the HS 1.8's... they have been very good to me...

I have some low mileage 1.7 GM rockers, stands, and bolts if needed... I'll ship em for $100...

Well I have read dozens of posts over the years about HS or YT's breaking. Worse than LS7 valve drop threads. Do a search. Been there done that. To those that have had zero issues. Congrats.
