Lots of factors here. Generally speaking more expensive tires grip better but also wear faster...so in the long run cost quite a bit more. Cheapest solution I believe is RE760, but I wouldn't want those tires on a C5Z...supposed to be a performance car, why get one if you're just going to put ****** tires on it.
Invo is probably a decent option but there are no good 17" sizes for the fronts (assuming you are on stock wheels). Confirm you are on stock wheels before we go any further?
Yes, Stock wheels. I just picked this car up 2 months ago.. has new tires on the front Dunlop.. Ive always been a NITTO fan so in INVO I like. I looked at the RE760 ONLY because its a daily driver... But like you said why have a Z if you are going to down grade it. I want a good hook tire...this thing has wheel spin like crazy! I was just curious to what everyone has good luck with.
Nitto NT05 is what I'm going to get once my current setup wears down. My current setup (previous own purchased) is expensive Michelin PS2 up front and Continental DW out back 295/35/18. I'm actually pretty impressed with the DWs for a 300 tread wear tire. They make a 275/40/17 that will fit up front....but from the pictures I've seen it makes the front tire sidewall look a bit fat. Apparently the Nitto NT05 275/40/17 runs a bit short, so it works well as a 265/40 replacement.
Bottom line, not many good options if you want a complete set on all 4 corners... NT05 is just what I'm looking for, but for a daily driver I can understand wanting something more in the ~300 tread wear area. I understand the RE760s are 340, but from what I've read they are not the best. These DWs hooked very well at 390whp before I went heads/cam and temps dropped a bunch...now I spin a lot, lol.
I'm sure more will chime in with better info, but for now just search "tires" in the subject line within the C5 or C5Z section... tons of threads with good info on this. Probably one of the most popular topics in the C5Z section.
Looks like a few decent options if you are willing to go to 255/285. I'm having this same debate right now... I really want some NT05s for a track day coming up, but they are backordered with unknown ETA.
THANK YOU! I Think ill stay under 300 wear so I hook good. I hate having a badass car that wont hook like it should. I did B&B bullet, B&B long tubes, Hurricane intake and it made it worse on hook up obviously lol.
I've been looking into this stuff all morning now.... Here are some good options (for me):
255/40/17 and 285/35/18 - NT05, RS3, Conti DW
255/40/17 and 295/35/18 - NT05, Conti DW
275/40/17 and 295/35/18 - NT05, Conti DW
Conti DW appears to be a good tire for the ~300 tread wear range. NT05 and RS3 are both 200 but RS3v2 is more modern and better all around. NT05's advantage though is they are damn cheap. NT05 would be my first choice... I'm ok taking a slight hit in performance for a significant price drop vs the RS3s. But with the 295 NT05s on order with unknown ETA and my track day concerns I may be picking up a set of the RS3s.
The Nitto just became available in the 275 front and 295 rear. I'm getting my second set installed next week. They lasted me three years and 15000 miles on my first set.
I've had Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas on my car for quite a while now. They are an excellent all around tire that do everything very well. They are also are qyite reasonable in price too. Look up Fairmount Tire in Los Angeles, ask for Brad for fantastic pricing and shipping if you're interested. Many forum members have used them with excellent reviews.

Yep...me too.Best tire I've had on my 02Z.I run F:275/35/18 R:295/30/19.Set was about $800 3 yrs ago.
The Vredesteins have horrible distribution in the US, but they are not hard to get if you know where to look. They are rated one of the best all-around performance tires in Europe. They are made in the Netherlands. Plus, I like their unusual tread pattern.

old obsolete compound that's outran by virtually everything new
the nt05 is really the only stock wheel choice left. even the ps2 is being slowly phased out
I put on NT-05's last summer in the 275/295 size combo. Even ran them through a ton of rain at the NCM 20th Anniversary and no issues or complaints with this tire.
Not sure why so many bash the RE760's. If you want to stick with the stock sizes, you can't beat the price and they are a decent performance tire for daily driver use.
Would I use them on a track? No. Would I do an autocross? Probably not.
But if we're talking daily driver and you want to save some cash to use for other things, the RE760 will do just fine.
Last I checked Bridgestone was into racing...sooooooo...

And their golfballs aren't too shabby either...
it's the compound. hard, low grip, horrible rain performance. cost is similar to the nt05. the re760 really has no reason to be chosen over the nt05 unless someone runs 20k miles a year on the freeway
I have re760s on mine and they flat out suck. They couldn't hook on stock hp in the summer time. Now i have lt headers and cai and even a spirited 3rd gear romp is instant tire spin and peddling to get the car to straighten out. Not much fun right now.
Sucks too cause they have lots of tread left. I was impressed with them on wet roads, but i have only driven wet roads a time or two. Try not to drive it unless its nice weather.
Any rec. on tires for a daily driver Z06? Don't wanna spend $400 per tire but I want a good hook tire! I was thinking NITTO INVO....
Forget the INVO. If you want something better than the NT05, but more friendly to changing weather than the R-S3, get the Michelin Pilot Super Sport in 245/40 or 245/45-17F|295/35-18R. They'll fit your factory wheels and the set goes for $964 (before shipping) on Tire Rack. Shipping should be $75 or less in the majority of the lower 48, unless you live somewhere in the boonies
